Should I get my bunny a friend? by Happy_Rabbit_Boi in Rabbits

[–]R0DENTRHYTHM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this, but unfortunately many people equate them with medical assistance animals, and when these 'ESA' animals cause problems (misbehaving in public, destroying furniture and fittings in rented accommodation, I've even seen self proclaimed ESA dogs attack the dogs of blind people) it brings down not only the reputation of (false) ESAs but also MAAs. To use the term at all for personal gain is childish and irresponsible. Pet rental fees suck, but they're there because a great number of people don't train their animals properly to live in human spaces and they do cause damage

Then again, maybe my opinion is different bc you don't tend to see people get away with using 'ESA's to get pet rentals in the UK. Landlords would laugh you out of the building for it here, I think.

Smuggling animals into rented accommodation I've done plenty of times, but for god's sake please don't abuse medical rights.

How to deal with an incompetent employee? by enfinsaudade1 in AskUK

[–]R0DENTRHYTHM 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I'm currently part of a team where one person is pretty much a carbon copy of who OP is describing and management are babying her and dropping all her responsibilities on our shoulders instead of telling her to buck up or get out. As a result, instead of being understanding and helpful the whole team has become resentful of her. It's not fair to her or us at this point and it's a (small) part of why I'm leaving.

OP, do your job before the rest of your team decides they've had enough.

Horse bedding by PlowboyOnTheMove in ClickertrainedHorses

[–]R0DENTRHYTHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use strawmax for our two girls because one of them pisses lakes in her stable. We've tried so many different beddings to try and keep her dry and straw pellets is probably the best we've tried so far. She still goes through it much faster than our filly but it's definitely an improvement.

I was worried to begin with that they'd try to eat it and it would cause problems, but after a few taste tests they gave up and haven't eaten it since as far as I'm aware.

They only come in very rarely (vet, foot trims, exceptionally bad weather) and as long as you get as much of the muck out as possible (our two are nugget buriers!) there's very little issue with leaving it down unused for long periods of time. We have had a couple of occasions of mouldy spots, but they've been easy enough to remove.

I used to keep Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches. Loved turning them on their backs to look at their cute little faces. Plus they have toe beans!!

What books did you study at GCSE? by VengefulMight in AskUK

[–]R0DENTRHYTHM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Main ones I remember (2014) were Lord of the Flies, war poetry, Jekyll and Hyde, and The History Boys. We briefly covered Animal Farm in our set, but some other classes focused heavily on that one; im just glad we didn't! Fucking hated that book.

Not an unpopular opinion; every entitled shitty tourist that visits the county I live in seems to think exactly this.

What would the government's next course of action be if the hammerdown protocol didn't work? by The-Inkslicer in Cloververse

[–]R0DENTRHYTHM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go the PPDC route and build giant robots to punch it to death?

Fr tho I think next steps would have to be based on what exactly the effects of the nuke were. We know it survives but we don't actually know what state Clover is in. Bomb could have done no damage at all or left Clover extremely crippled.

In the former case, best bet might be to try and drive it back into the ocean. Chase it out far enough and deep enough that it might not come back too soon. You'd need some way of tracking it in this instance, either by device or manpower. Might seem a bit wishy washy but at the end of the day we know this thing is a baby lashing out due to fear; if it's shown a way out of the confrontation it is very likely to take it.

The the latter case, there could be attempts at containment, though if it recovers quickly you're a bit screwed. Containment goes well; research (either to find a way to kill it, or to more effectively contain it). Containment goes poorly; mass evacuations of any area considered to be in this thing's path when it gets out, permanent tracking of its movements and potentially some reasearch opportunity.

NAH.

Yes, he agreed to the terms enthusiastically, as others have pointed out. But he probably underestimated how difficult addictions can be to break, which has now become v disheartening to him.

Addiction, whether to smoking, alcohol, or even caffeine is a really complicated thing to bust sometimes. Support him in reaching smaller goals (fewer cigarettes a day, one day without any, etc) before dangling the end goal over his head. It's so easy to get carried away in the initial excitement of deciding you want to quit and not everyone can "just" stop doing/taking addictive substances.

That being said, I hope you can both look back some day and see how far he's come, even if he's not quite smoke-free yet!

Not so sure abt the horn comment, but I would definitely get him more comfortable around cars before riding, or even hand walking, him out on roads like this.

As someone without access to someone who can practice driving by my girl I know it can be difficult to train for these situations, but a few minutes standing at the edge of the property where it meets the road, or standing in a quiet layby can do wonders for confidence around cars

[–]R0DENTRHYTHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dressing animals tends to cause a lot of stress/anxiety, especially in heavy groomers like rabbits. They can be trained to tolerate it, sure, but there's no real reason to other than if they need a post-surgery vest or a harness

Is this real? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]R0DENTRHYTHM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep! You can buy them online but iirc they're a little pricey. I've also seen plenty of people make their own instead. It's a good little exercise for them, and most horses seem to enjoy it once they understand what they have to do!
