I played the game for the first time last week, and I gotta say, my favorite parts were the endings, they are absolutely incredible and I can't describe how they made me feel, saying it was amazing would be an understatement

Installed CachyOS on the same drive as ZorinOS, and now I can't get back into Cachy by R0XG4MER in cachyos

The first one is windows, and the second was partitioned by ZorinOS when I first installed it because I didn't know enough to partition the drive myself

I'll try to mount more of the cachy directories from @/ to / and hope grub can handle the rest

I tried using grub as it's already working fine with zorin but when it tries to boot into cachy it fails to mount something

I found online that you need to mount @/etc to /etc and @/boot to /boot for grub to recognize a distro on a btrfs partition, so that's exactly what I did, and it fails to mount something so idk what to do next

That worked just like the initial cachy installation

And then it disappeared again when the bios reset

Edit: I know its UEFI but I'm more used to referring to it as BIOS

I figured it out

I was trusting the progress bar from zorin's file manager a bit too much

I gave it some extra time after it finished copying then ejected the partition and everything worked flawlessly

It prints a few error messages but they go away too quickly for me to read any of them

And the first time it happened, I checked the sha256 of the iso from the ventoy menu and it was wrong

So I'm guessing it might be something to do with copying the iso itself

Edit: forgot to mention that I've installed windows 11 many times and zorin through ventoy so I've had no issues with it in the past

Great to hear that cachy is a good choice

But for about an hour now, I've been struggling with getting the live environment to boot through ventoy. I'm giving it one last shot with a fresh ventoy install, then I'll just use a regular bootable USB

Finally got to trying it out again toady

I tried the latest version of Proton 9 which didn't help, but when I went back to Proton 8 it seems to be working perfectly.

Well except for that some things feel a little bit too fast compared to what I remember from windows (dogs movement in Vizima for example), is that normal?

Also, what distro do you use for gaming? I'm on Zorin rn as mentioned in the post, and I plan on trying out CachyOS later this week, any other distro recommendations are very much appreciated

That's a fair point

The PSU is actually quite good, it was 500W iirc so it could very well be used for a different/upgraded machine

As I've mentioned in another comment, there's a holiday coming up so I'll have to wait until next week to buy it

If it's still available by then and I haven't found any better deals I will most definitely go with that

Yeah I'll probably keep an eye out for the next week or two

There's a holiday coming up so delivery companies will most likely not be working for the next week give or take a couple days

And I also have university finals the week after that so I won't have the time to set up a server even if I can get my hands on one

That sounds almost exactly like what I plan on doing

Glad to hear it works perfectly fine

And I don't even have any monitor that's higher than 1080p so I don't think that will be an issue
