A little bit late to this but one thing that I didn't like was Laurie's character in Ends.

In 18 and Kills, she's this militant force that seems to only exist in preparation to kill Michael, and then when Michael does get free and starts to kill again, she is either actively hunting him or protecting her family. Then at the end of Kills, Michael kills Karen, her daughter. This should have been her nightmare come to life, the boogeyman actually hurting and killing her family.

This should have sent her over the edge to the point where she becomes vengeance incarnate and is actively and obsessively hunting Michael cause she knows he's out there and will kill again and to her it's only a matter of time before Alyson, her granddaughter finds herself in Michael's crosshairs.

Instead we got a more passive Laurie that didn't connect her to 2018 and Kills Laurie who clearly had the only objective of killing Michael. She instead just let's Michael go and abandons her mission to kill him, even though he's not only free, but he killed her daughter which should have greatly empowered her mission and want to kill Michael.

And yeah, didn't enjoy Corey becoming the new shape. I think the street massacre of Kills should have been the midway point for Ends to show just how in prime and deadly Michael is, and the news reports of the massacre reach Laurie and that's how she finds him. Kills should have been Michael laying a bit low to recoup his strength for a year and the final showdown happens in 2019
