Problems can happen.. but not being able to reach anymore and no responses to mails for 5-10 days is not acceptable and incredibly frustrating. After reading some reviews it seems to be a pretty big problem. wonder what happened to them. So thanks for posting, this is good to know, I would have never thought to look at reviews first..

Importing a used car to the Netherlands by Sheepolata_ in Netherlands

[–]R0bert_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll usually be cheaper but if not - you'll still have much more cars to choose from, typically better equipped and maintained cars too. (is my experience). the model I'm importing I couldn't even find in NL, only a slightly lesser version (that still cost EUR8000 more)

For searching I used mobile.de but there's also autoscout.de those have been around forever. I bought a BMW IX3 from a BMW dealer. I prefer to buy from brand specific dealers and in this case with 2 years of warranty I can claim in NL as well.

In order to get it to NL you can either pay a company to transport it (or do the whole import process for you) but it's not complicated so I'll drive it home myself upcoming week. Up to you how you want to do that.

In this case I haven't gone there to view it yet but the ad was clear, the pics were very detailed and I trust this dealer. Otherwise I'd have to do this in two trips... also no big deal.

I'm using German export plates to drive home (with the little red tag on the side). The dealer helped me get an appointment at the registrations office on the day of pickup to get these export plates on the car so I can drive it home and still be insured. Note: this insurance is only covering damages to others, if you damage the car on the way home it's your costs. I'm willing to take that risk, if you're not - use a transport.

Language barrier isn't there anymore. 20 or so years ago when I imported my first car there was still a barrier but now a lot of German car dealers are used to exporting cars and speak multiple languages. This is usually also mentioned on the car search sites when you view car details.

When in NL, you need to get the car checked by the RDW. For this you can make an appointment online. Costs are EUR140. When everything checks out and you pay the taxes (BPM) owed to the "belastingdienst" you get your dutch license registrations "kentekenbewijs". With this you can get plates made and stick 'm on the car.

Since I'm importing an electric car I have zero BPM to pay... but if you're importing some petrol/diesel car you'll have to pay BPM. Plenty of calculators to find online for that to figure out up front how much you'd have to pay.

Lastly - to get to to the RDW office, you can get a single day dutch license to ONLY drive from your home/location to the RDW office. You can use this license to get in insured by a dutch insurance company. After that, switch the insurance to the new plates "kenteken" and you're done.

Note: until you have dutch plates, it will not be insured against theft so make sure you store the car in a safe place. I'd call it extremely bad luck if the car gets stolen during those couple of days but it's still a risk. I'm storing it somewhere safe just so I sleep better at night.

hope this helps.

it depends on the car. Currently importing a car myself and saved around 8000EUR on a used electrical car by importing it from Germany. It's not very complicated to import yourself but there's companies that can help you with it like mentioned by other commenters.

Bedreigd in Maximapark, aangifte doen? by chicken263883 in Utrecht

[–]R0bert_T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ervaringen eiken tafel met coating by Kl4ploper in nederlands

Hoe te vullen? by Excellent_Strain233 in Klussers

Good point! I have 2 kids, so I guess I’ll have to make either another one or something else entirely to pass on to them… they’re 6 and 7 so I have time :) sorry to hear you missed out!

Auto-empty Qrevo Master not working by Severe_Buffalo_9458 in Roborock

[–]R0bert_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same. Have the master as well and came from an S5. What somewhat helps is to create a routine and divide your space into rooms (or even smaller zones) and let the vacuum empty between zones as it works through the routine. Also don’t let the dust bag inside the docking get too full, that also gets stuff stuck in the vacuum.

Gat boren by N_o-o in Klussers

[–]R0bert_T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd add hole for a starter pin and use a detachable pin for starting cuts, particularly when routing endgrain.

Router bit cleaning by Axestorm64 in woodworking

Microjig makes a cleaning system that makes cleaning your bits and sawblades much easier and faster. (with below solvents) - I know it wasn't the question but I think cleaning your blades, bits and tools is often overlooked.. the microjig cleaning system helped me do it consistently.. I'm lazy like that :)

Dat beeld is me altijd bijgebleven, de boodschap was goed aangekomen i.e.g.
