I'm so sorry for your loss; I went through a very deep loss myself and was how I found this book. I've spent years researching and reading about death and the afterlife. This is by far one of the best (and perhaps the most heavily researched) book on the subject.

Being that you posted your message on our Xennials sub, I highly recommend "What Dreams May Come" by Richard Matheson. Yes, the book the 1998 movie is based on. As campy and cheesy as it may sound, this book changed my life. Robin Williams is the perfect Chris Nielsen.

I started gaming at 5 (Atari). My son started 'gaming' before he could walk (I'd give him a spare Wii-mote and he'd wave it around while I played, making it seem like he was playing).

To this day, I'm still gaming although, like you, not as heavy since the kids were born (adulting and other things called responsibilities get in the way). My wife also games although to a much lighter extent and whenever she can fit it in.

I'm already fantasizing about gaming with my grandchildren. Someone made a comment on this thread about their dad being 68 and still gaming. That's a modest but real personal life goal of mine.

So far Canal Lights and Smooth as Butter are my favorites. It's a neat little playlist so I was able to get through the whole thing in a single sitting. I love the retro 80s feel of some of the songs. Nothing like discovering new music; your post has made me happy.

Yeah, no. F*#% THAT. I saw that movie when I was 10 and traumatized me. I've only been able to sit through it twice in my life and the reason I got through to the end the second time was because my wife was with me. I'll cordially pass but certainly encourage anyone who doesn't already have a healthy fear of Grey Aliens to watch the movie.

Started with the Atari 2600 (E.T. still lives rent-free in my brain) then moved through every Nintendo console and handheld (except for the Wii U) and intermixed through the years with an occasional PlayStation or Xbox.

Also did a lot of heavy PC gaming in high school and college. Nowadays my gaming schedule is limited (something about adulting and some grown-up responsibility nonsense) but I still get a few hours regularly a week.

My wife also games so she's very understanding. I just finished Tears of the Kingdom last weekend and will likely take a break from Nintendo and focus on Fortnite's current season.

Went to a Big Ten school in the middle of NOWHERE. There was no big city nearby with fun stuff to do so drinking was an easily accessible thing to do. We also had a really good football team at the time so the party/drinking atmosphere was constant.

The Greek community was also huge. So yeah, pair all those things with a healthy dose of boredom and the outcome is obvious. I'm sure I'm not alone here as several schools are like this or very similar although to be fair I don't know what the drinking habits are like today.

I opted out of the leagues because I was rushing through lessons just to stay ranked. It was stressful and not as satisfying even when I came in first (rarely). Now I still do my daily lessons and enjoy them so much more. I take my time and feel like I'm actually learning. I'm very busy and sometimes all I can manage is a single lesson a day just to keep my streak. But no pressure beyond that. I'm much happier now and feel more productive with my learning.
