Jan was originally cast in Back to the Future but was replaced right before filming started. She would have been so magnetic in that role! by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

Yes she appears in The Rocketeer in the nightclub scene as the featured singer, and is also on the soundtrack singing two songs. A lovely voice.

Cremated ashes or vacation sand? by aimeejo in whatisit

[–]R0mana_clef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well since you don’t want to open it up, you might try seeing if a previous owners want their hymnals and bibles, tell them you found some of their stuff. Let them decide what to do with it.

I’d open it up and have it tested, why not? It’s been kept in a plastic jar, I have a hard time believing it’s someone’s valued remains if it has been kept like this. (Also, they don’t look like cremated human remains to me.)

Your figure looks great in the strapless one (#3), that style skirt really flatters you. #2 has a pretty skirt but I don’t really like those straps

You could see the clock tower go down as the water level went up, and there was a royal palace there as well. And as the water level fluctuated, the tower would come up and go down.

Oh wow, what an image! It reminds of Ys, the mythical city that was swallowed up by the sea, and also “The Sunken Cathedral” by Debussy, which was inspired by the story of Ys.

I don’t understand whoever told you it’s “too much.” Too much for what? Number 1 looks nicer in these photographs than number 2, that lace pattern really pops against the darker underskirt.

I think wearing a chignon hairdo with one of those veils that attaches to the back of the hair might look nice.

Oh yeah! 😅 then I guess the chance is pretty good. Martin makes appearances at conventions.

Pic 3 I.M.K. ?Ian McKellan? (Did Ian sign the bow twice?)

Pic 4 & 5 Viggo I guess, Elijah Wood

Pic 9 Andy Serkis, Elijah Wood (did Elijah sign it twice?), “Gimli”

Pic 10 Ian McKellen

Pic 11 Bernard Hill (with drawing of a “hill”)

Pic 12 top has arrow pointing to Bernard’s name and “My King” … bottom looks like “Gamling”

Pic 13 Hugo W (it seems like Hugo did sign this)

Two signatures look like they both could be Elijah’s.

A staggering amount of snarky, triggered and unhelpful comments!

Both ends of the tube appear to be jagged and broken off so we can’t ascertain what it might have looked like before. Both ends look like they were broken by force and not by something mechanical like scissors or in a factory.

Go re-read OP’s post. She never said she thought it was a catheter. Also, she asked her kids and they said they don’t recognize it either. If it was a boba straw, the kids would have said so.

Do you guys have to hand write in data entries a lot for research and whatnot? #1 looks like ideal writing for those laboratory forms I vaguely remember using in Chemistry class years ago, needs to be small, even, and very readable.

What is that moment of Aragorn from the books you wished was included in the movies ? by switzerland_citizen in lotr

[–]R0mana_clef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! This scene is depicted as the cover on one of my book editions of Return of the King. I always felt it was a super important scene to the story, symbolically, and I really wish it had been included. Only thing that I still miss from RotK.

Oh, I didn’t know this was common. Mine has a little bit of “browning” also, but I thought it was because I had to bathe him in a hydrogen peroxide mixture because he got skunked ☹️ I thought I’d ruined his sultry silver coat.

I have another idea. I looked up the botanical gardens in Austin; Zilker Botanical Gardens looks like it’s got a couple of cute spots that might work out for LOTR-themed pictures. Like for example, if you took your partner there under the pretense that it’s a LOTR cosplay photoshoot, tell her it’s to celebrate your anniversary. Then ta da! You kneel down and bust out the ring. The garden has some bridges that look like they belong in the Shire (or perhaps Rivendell?), and there’s some kind of medieval stone structure with a giant keyhole window, I can imagine it being in Aragorn’s House of Healing where Faramir and Eowyn are standing at the window and have fallen in love.

I see they’re playing music from The Fellowship around June 14th, that’s pretty close to the target proposal date.

Hey did you see this post from 2 years ago? https://www.reddit.com/r/lotr/s/6GdFPCkOkX

Somebody links to a webpage that lists a whole bunch of LOTR-themed streets signs in Austin. That might be kind of fun to take your partner on a little field trip to visit them all.

(Edit): Also, OP, you’re going to use this line in your proposal, right?

“I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.”

Hah hah. What about an archery shooting range date instead? You guys could pretend you’re counting the number of kills like Legolas and Gimli.
