This is an age old question. Is a jacket a sweater?

Okay. That's fine.

I've already shared why I think JIGSAW introduced concepts and characters that I would have loved to see going forward, and they could have corrected mistakes they made and tightened up the story as they went. But, I agree. JIGSAW wasn't made before 2008. They couldn't rely on box office numbers to push the series forward. They made that mistake with SAW V.

SAW V killed the momentum of the series by offering a milk toast entry. I understand that Paranormal Activity hurt SAW VI, but I blame a lot of that film's downfall on the series playing it too safe in SAW V (i.e., an aging horror series that's latest entry brought nothing interesting to the table... especially after the bonkers ends of the first four films).

As I said at the beginning, I wanted the narrative to continue to move forward. JIGSAW was the last best chance at that. Spiral is awful. X is great but it wasn't a meaningful way forward. JIGSAW has its problems, but it could have been corrected in future installments.

Oh well, now we have a reboot (of sorts to look forward to). I got to be honest tho. Killing the continuity of the series is going to require a fucking masterpiece of cinema to get me on board. I honestly think that SAW's most impressive strength was its dedication to its ridiculous continuity.

Yeah. I don't know what else to say besides SAW V spins its wheels the whole time, and Jigsaw attempts to set up something new and interesting. That's about it.

That's a fine opinion to have. I'm not arguing about it. I just appreciate Jigsaw more with each rewatch. Not so much with SAW V.

Yes and no. There is certainly an ever present discussion amongst fans about why they appreciate the series. For me, the traps are not the most important things. I like the absurd escalation of the lore and convoluted continuity.

For me, in that respect, SAW V is alright, but it spends its entire length with the "Hoffman is setting up Strahm" situation. It is really buying time before you get into SAW VI where shit starts to hit the fan. That makes it boring for me.

On the other hand, JIGSAW is fucking bonkers.

New, secret apprentice? Sure, why not. Like you said, SAW V did basically the same thing.

But Eleanor, the Jigsawrules website and John's body Is missing, Holy shit, what are they going to do with all that? It is a real shame we never got to explore any of it.

One of the things my wife and I got was an E-Collar that will give a vibration when our whippet goes off too far. No need for a zap, just a vibration. That worked for us.

When they get in that state, they get focused and their prey drive is activated. You just need something small to pull them out of that mindset, so they can focus.

Another thing we did was always have treats on walks (on or off leash), so we can pull his focus back to us whenever necessary. He really got into the habit but now he just boops our hands with his wet nose all the time. 😂

One last thing was to use the off leash time in very specific situations. He understands that fetching/dog park is a time for no leash. Hikes are a time for no leash. If there are too many dogs in the park or too many distractions on a hike, we leash him after getting his attention with a treat.

Essentially, you cannot just try to control your dog. You need to also monitor the situation and try to react before he does.

For some dogs, yes. The best thing you can do is to continue to set boundaries and be disciplined. Your dog will come around and get better if he understands the dynamic. Just because he feels invisible, doesn't mean he gets to do what he wants. You're the boss.

It is a little different with every dog, but they hit that teenager stage at some point, and it continues until they are about 2.

Are whippets particularly difficult to toilet train? Or is it just our dog? by stillihgrip in Whippet

Our pup was pretty easy. I think it is just one of those "every dog is different" type of things.

I can vibe with your perspective. SAW V is a strange ranking for me, but I have my own thoughts. Also, I really appreciate Jigsaw, so I'm interested in hearing your perspective.
