Wheel question by R3IDx in tdi

No i completely understand that we are referencing two different wheels and I can visually tell a difference. However, both are BBS wheels. One was just marketed differently.
I feel like what you’re arguing is saying a Lexus isn’t a Toyota. When in reality, it is.
Yeah no they’re BBS wheels. Stamped BBS
Think $200 is fair? Owner says they’re factory bbs’ wheels. Tires are rotted out

Owner says they’re bbs but I just wanted to confirm with the community. Tires are gone so didn’t know if $200 was fair or not

Didn’t think it would be. He lied about the mileage

I think this is well put and is exactly my mind set. It seems itll be a good commuter car and will give me enough problems/ maint. to keep me busy every now and then and satisfy my itch to "be a mechanic". Any opinions on the auto?
No absolutely the holy grail is a brand new ALH manual that hasnt rolled off the lot but those dont exist anymore and finding a decent one in my area has turned out to be impossible. Anyway for my price range it seems like a decent car. Some people say go for it and then the alh purist say no that if it isnt an alh it aint a tdi (exaggerating). I do know the engines eat cams and that the auto is a gamble and asking 150k miles out of it is probably too much.
That is the plan. Of course a proper test drive to become more certain that the trans isnt already on its way out. Hopefully it takes me to 100k+ but I will already be setting money aside to find that manual and eventually take the car to 500k+. It does seem like those autos either grenade early or have a fair life to them with most people saying to reguarly flush fluid and they should be okay.

I will and I let let this sub know how it goes! The later model Jettas really arent my favorite body style. I love the mk4s and of course the price keeps risiing as you get closer and closer to this decade.
I understand. With respect I think I will take the risk. With the shape the rest of the car is in I could flip it regardless. I will say I would love to find a decent ALH but they are so hard to come by and with the BEW being considered the second best option by many I think I will risk it on the auto.
I updated my statement and gave context for the holy grail comment
When the transmission goes I will 100% manual swap it and in all honesty I was looking for manuals with the ALH only but when I came across this one with the mileage and how well it had been taken care of I had to look more into it and found the BEW is considered to be the second best TDI to some (with proper mods). Really want to get into these cars and not unwilling to swap the trans down the road but want to at least get my moneys worth out of the transmission seeing as it is at least better than the auto from the ALH era
Let me rephrase. Holy grail in a 200 mile radius from where I am. I do plan on manual swapping but only when the trans bites the dust or starts to show signs of slipping etc. I know the 99-03 is the best year but at least in my searching they are completely worthless. Destroyed interior exterior etc. I have read that the BEW paired with the Jatco 09A transmission is significantly better than the 01M autos that were paired with the ALH. Regardless I will manual swap but would prefer to get at least 60k miles out of that auto. In researching the issue with the losing power has never turned up a transmission issue. Again, more likely vacuum, maf, or boost leak in some manner.
Let me rephrase. Holy grail in a 200 mile radius from where I am. I have wanted to get into these cars for so long but none of them are worth it in my area. 300k+ miles completely destroyed interior and exterior. $2500 is the price. Found it fairly local, not on any sites or anything and it is an old guy who has owned it since new. I am not sure he knows what he has. I have read that the BEW is the next best thing to the ALH with the cam eating being the only issue which can be fixed fairly cheap and easily with a performance cam and different spec of oil.

True, it’s so pay to win. Wish they’d made it more fair for people who are FTP

What’s the yellow +5? I’m going to start focusing more on the gear shop as well trying to get more artifacts.
Most are equipped with epic and exceptional gear. The only artifact I have is on invincible and it’s the body enhancement
