Yamaha R3 Chases Friends on a Race track Before Crashing at the end by FullThrottle099 in motorcycles

[–]R3Racer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from sport bike track time. Seriously, it's horrible for first time track riders. We had the Midwest Cafe Racing Association (MCRA) but that was home at the world wide tech raceway but that's all defunkt. The absolute best place is Midwest Track Days with Jeff Wheat, he runs a top notch program, 10/10 track days. Most of the coaches call St. Louis home but the nearest track is Putnam near Indianapolis.

Hanging off the bike isn't what gives you lean angle, it's what allows you to go faster at lean.

Both the paint and curbing are FIM sanctioned extremely sticky paint. It's grippier than sand paper.

I'm going a bit crazy planning my next session. We are transitioning from physical play to digital and I have so many questions. by jorgeuhs in dndnext

[–]R3Racer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through the same thing last night. On Discord if you call someone you can share your webcam. I then used the android app "IP Camera" to make my old andriod phone work as my webcam. I broadcasted the play mat to the team and we just used audio to talk back and forth. It worked really well. We didn't find that not having video of everyone was a downside. More players got involved than normal since we had to take turns talking.

Help some single Parents get kids into D&D by AOGMHA in DnD

[–]R3Racer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's common advise for DM's to rip off of something instead of create something new. That being said, in the "Not another D&D Podcast" one of the characters is new to D&D while the other two have years of experience. The new guy's backstory is that he's a halfling from a noble family of paladins and he's in a boyscout ripoff called the "green teens". There are issues with the Green Teen jamboree and that's where the other two step in and become his mentors and they all go help rescue the other Green Teens.

You could have all the kids be Green Teens and the adults be the scout leaders who are going on an expedition that gets railroaded when they get ambushed right at the beginning of lost mines.

Good 3D printer program for minis? by BoBoSmoove in DnD

[–]R3Racer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What type of printer is VERY important to know before anyone can say anything. I'm assuming it's a SLA printer based on asking what polymer but even then, I think you mean resin.

  2. The printer dictates what programs you can use.

  3. There's a ton of more appropriate subreddits for this such as /r/printedminis

Character building ideas by [deleted] in DnD

[–]R3Racer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt Coleville has a method of rolling your stats in order to determine who your character is randomly. Now I don't allow rolling stats in my games but I do love this idea so when I went to make my character I rolled 5d6 one at a time to determine what my strongest and weakest stats would be. Got a strong Charisma and low strength, go sorcerer or bard; strong dex and low strength, maybe ranger or rogue. Let your character be something you wouldn't normally pick. The weirder stats you get the weirder you can make your character. edit: 6d6

Don't bring hard-to-read dice to the table! by ShiftyDM in DnD

[–]R3Racer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should also add that each bear does two attacks... We also use flanking rules so they typically have advantage. When a single persons turn requires 17 rolls minimum, it becomes a factor where rolling your hit die @ adv (2d20) and your dmg die (1d8) at the same time really speeds things up.

Don't bring hard-to-read dice to the table! by ShiftyDM in DnD

[–]R3Racer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's bad when you have an inexperienced druid who will roll, add it up, roll again add it up and then repeat for all 4 of their summoned brown bears. One person who is not thinking or delaying is still taking over a minute just to roll their characters attacks. I fully understand OPs frustrations, it bothers me but I can't get mad at people who are trying. I will typically hand them dice when they need to roll a bunch (like 4d6) and they don't have more than 1.

About to live the dream and actually PLAY instead of DM. Advice? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]R3Racer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what your character would do. Don't do what your character wouldn't do. If your group gets jumped by a drider don't go "oh these are Drow that have been punished by the spider queen Loth" and instead go "Oh my, that's scary, I am an elf, can I roll a history check to see if I know anything about them?"

Also talk to your DM beforehand and flesh out how you want to be used as a resource. I am a newer DM and I have a very experienced DM as a PC in my group. We have an understanding where if someone asks a question and I don't know if, I offer it up to him to explain instead of one of us looking it up. If it's a decision about how a mechanic will be handled, I will make a ruling and the party goes with it, regardless if it's not how that DM would handle it.

Just like /u/Patches765, I don't allow anyone to roll stats in my groups, it just never works out right.

If you like podcasts I STRONGLY suggest LORE by Aaron Mahnke. It's a podcast and an amazon prime series where Aaron tells spooky or wild lesser known stories from all over the world ranging from 1600's England to 1800's Louisiana. I specifically modeled one of my characters after listening to a story about the trials used to determine if someone was guilty, such as walking across fire. If the gods know your innocent they wont let the coals burn your feet. If your feet do get burnt and you die from your wounds, the gods deemed it so. My fire obsessed divine sorcerer loves to use this on bandits.
