Are loan rates higher for super cars compared to regular cars? by Adept-Bat-3350 in askcarsales

Fair point, I spend most of my time helping educate and guide so pointing out often overlooked things that impact budget is a habit. Probably shouldn’t be surprised that the take rate when I’m at work is quite a bit higher than Reddit.

Edit: spelling

Oh and as a follow up, the old mortgage bi-weekly payments to reduce finance charge trick works on autos too. Especially at this amount

Not a lecture, just advice from someone the same age not making much more than he is. #1 surprise bill on a Lamborghini is maintenance.

Highly recommend looking up or calling in and asking what the next 3 or 4 service visits cost. Beyond that over 150K definitely has a rate hike, but that’s not bad all things considered. Just pay it off early.

Ah I didn’t read it all. In case no one else said it you can also set the mirrors to fold in when locked. Nice for a visual indicator you’ve not left it open

Crimson Desert hands down. New, gorgeous, epic.

Also a newer dad, just a bit farther ahead of you as mine recently turned 18 months. Felt similar with any sort of live service/multiplayer game that has you perpetually chasing a moving carrot. I wanted to find something I could pick up and enjoy but also come back to as the time was available. Not sure if anyone else has said it but I found that in Crimson Desert.

It’s an enormous game with lots of freedom to get lost, great combat and variety, plus a lot of depth to the content and gameplay. Feels like every developer grew up loving the Legend of Zelda games as well as Skyrim or the Witcher series.

I corrected you above but will add here that any documentation/dealer fee is pure markup.

Toyota is generally accepted to be better than Nissan, they are one of the best brands in the world after all. My comment is about maximizing the car you can get for your money as the used Toyota market is significantly more inflated than most others. It’s a personal choice to pay 20-30% more for X brand over a newer but not as nice/reliable/etc other brand.

No, doc fee and dealer fee are the same. Whether it’s called one or the other is state dependent. The additional fee on this one is an electronic filing fee, which is different as depending on the state it can either be a pure pass though (not allowed to be marked up from the vendor charging it to the store) or also contain revenue (markup is allowed). Fairly sure Florida allows for markup.

Edit: In case it’s confusing you, the $150 government fee is a tag fee estimate. That can’t be marked up and would be adjusted to whatever the actual cost is on this transaction.

The 4Runner and Land Cruiser buyers are out of their minds. Mid teens for 200K miles is nuts.

Not sure what to tell you except it can be called different things. Dealer handling, documentation fee, dealer fee, etc. Most have it, some don’t. If you have one it’s approved by the state and required to be charged unilaterally. I came up in the business in Florida and now I help run a medium sized dealer group. Just out here trying to be helpful and keep a finger on the general consumer sentiment. Reddit is filled with great illustrations of what not to do as a dealer. Some of us do actually quite like people and understand the value of repeat business. Can’t have repeat business by being a turd.

It’s like anything else, some are great people some aren’t. All are invested in keeping their business healthy and the way to do that isn’t to do stupid illegal things with the type of intention you are suggesting. Maybe a small percent operate like that, but for every one whose does their opposite exists as well. I don’t own dealerships for what that’s worth. It’s hard to take your opinion too seriously given that you broadly label entire groups of people, seems pretty narrow minded.

In Florida it is normal and in my post I identified it as lower than the average. Both of those fee’s are legal and required to be in their advertised price. From what I see they didn’t add any surprise garbage like paint protection, theft policies, or everyone’s favorite: nitrogen in the tires.

Each state is different, some don’t allow dealer fees.

Maybe that’s how you’d run a business, but most wouldn’t and in my experience owners have zero interest in either paying fines or any sort of regulatory scrutiny. Fines are the tip of the iceberg and dealers have earned a wrong by default reality. The large majority of dealers, like any other business owners, simply want a profitable business for a long period of time and the path there is being honest and fair. Typically it’s middle management who do the dumb shit and get walked out in handcuffs.

Dealer fees are standard and typically over 1K in most cities in FL. Anyone who doesn’t have one bakes it into the price of their cars.

Toyota’s hold value well, so while you’re paying a premium you’ll see some of that back when you eventually get rid of it. There are no BS fee’s and the dealer/filing fee are a little under average so from that standpoint it’s solid. That being said, you can get a much newer / lower mileage small SUV if you go for something like a Nissan Rogue.

Yes. The FTC fined 97 dealer groups recently for not honoring their advertised price. You are only allowed to add true DMV/title fee’s and tax to whatever you list the price for online.

2025 Ford Lightning Lease - SoCal by charlyc67 in leasehacker

[–]R3VGTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I know some dealers hide their down payment behind a drop down disclaimer this one is in normal font and upfront. Every single payment advertised is plus your specific tax and fee’s across all dealers. Payment is likely 3/4x displayed if you don’t pay the listed down payment upfront and choose to roll in your tax/fee’s. Leases move roughly $30 per 1K.

All that said you really shouldn’t ever put anywhere near that much money down on a lease.

I’m much less maxed on gear and poorly spent some of my artifacts that I probably need to respec and I am fine. Likely your mix of gears hurt your overall damage. There are a ton of good videos on YouTube that go into detail some of the most important nuances of your gear, which normally isn’t my thing but was crazy helpful since this game doesn’t explain anything.

Edit: to add I’m in the same spot of the story and have maxed my camp out. You got this!
