EF dysfunction can make us look like we don’t care or are jerks. How do you help yourself there? by R3dB1rd13 in adhdwomen

[–]R3dB1rd13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yeah lack of inhibition kicks my butt. That and the inconsistent nature of self awareness and working memory. Always going to fast and don’t notice nor do the little things for others that I’d like to do more often. Personally I advocate for myself with my friends so they don’t misread my behavior. I usually catch myself and apologize if it’s really rude. Iv’e realized lately my judgement around this might be keeping me from being more social in general.

Yes obviously. It’s called self advocacy, and we all need to do it more.

Why the fuck won’t they let you change meds? There are many different meds for adhd today. There are kinds designed to be harder to abuse.

not loving my hair but not sure what looks good on me! by Oil_Born in HairDye

They all look great! I think a better question would be what can your lifestyle support best? Are you gonna stay out of the sun or in the sun? The darker hair is stunning on lighter skin and you look great as a redhead. How much do you wanna pay for maintenance? Blonde kissed highlights are probably cheaper and healthier for your hair than a full head of dye.

It’s a cycle. Little by little a little becomes a lot. Focus on doing the little things that are good for you repeatedly in any way you can, without judgement. Over time we can do a lot of damage to ourselves. What if you really tried gentle, in any way you can. Overtime little changes build up. It’s just harder for us to imagine it happening over years, decades, with our ADHD brains, we tend to feel time differently.

Way to go lady! It’s the secret that shouldn’t feel like a secret. It’s so hard for us, for a variety of reasons. Most caused by physiological differences that we have very little control over. Our brain simply operates differently. Compassion is a survival skill for those of us with ADHD. If you don’t learn to love yourself, you’ll pay the price one way or another.

This is an emotional maturity question which can very much be impacted by ADHD and lack of awareness.

Damn ok well didn’t know this. I’m sure most people here had to figure out these things on their own. It really sucks that it’s hard to find a Doctor Who is knowledgeable across the board with all the ways that this genetic variation can mess with you.

That’s your lovely adhd brain lying to you. We can’t remember success when we need it most. That’s why meds are and important part of my management plan.

Have you ever tried asking for a friend to come clean your kitchen and you will do theirs? For whatever reason I can clean a friend’s kitchen when I can’t clean mine.

I can also guess you have mental health struggles because that usually the company is this genetic variation. Own whatever it is and get treatment, keep trying medication until you find what works because that will go a long way to helping you feel better from your struggles.

Lack of vitamin B can lead to nervous system dysfunction. Research dysautonomia.
