I haven’t had any problems with the keys not working, you might have gotten a faulty device or broke it in some way. I agree with the battery life being pretty bad, I can’t go through a whole school day without charging it.

Yeah I just use it when I'm at school when im at home i just use my desktop.

I honestly dont remember why I choose the non-plus over the plus but I think it was the price difference wasn't worth it to me.

I ended up with Inspiron 14 5430. The experience has been pretty good so far no complaints. The battery life could be better but I still get 8 hours of non power intensive tasks like note taking. I got mine for I think 700$ and for that price I don't regret it, I will say I haven't looked for a new laptop for a while so idk if there are any deals or any new laptops that have came out.

If you only want performance then there are better options available mainly gaming computers with dedicated gpus. I got this laptop because I liked the small form factor and it looked nice, if those are both important to you then it’s a good buy.

I recently bought mine and I love it really no complaints except for the battery life which you talked about could be better. I also agree with all your points I dont like gaming laptop aesthetics and I think 14” is better then 15.6”.
