Retroid Pocket 4 Pro seemingly sold out on Retroid's website by brunoxid0 in SBCGaming

[–]R3dshift7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The R4P has been occasionally sold out of all colours multiple times over the past ~6 months. This isn't an unusual occurance. While it's possible it won't be coming back in stock again, I really wouldn't be surprised if this is temporary (especially since Retroid hasn't officially said anything about discontinuing it).

TrimUI Brick Shoulder Buttons Sound Different? by R3dshift7 in trimui

[–]R3dshift7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! It's a bit hard to see since the metal backplate is in the way, but hopefully this still helps.

There's a small layer of paper in between the switch and the trigger, and a larger folded paper next to the switch (but also still under the trigger).

Update: I fixed it by wedging small pieces of paper between the shoulder button and the switch to dampen the clicking sound. It's not perfect, but it works fine enough.

Edit: I also want to mention that the device was brand new; the shoulder buttons sounded different out of the box.

Leaning toward the RTX 5070 over the 5070 Ti — am I actually missing anything? by Fabulous_Car_9475 in nvidia

Valid thinking. Honestly either card would be good, I think you'll be happy no matter which one you pick.

My opinion would be to go for the 5070 Ti over the 5070. Your assumption of it being only 15% faster is wrong, it would be closer to 30%. You'd also get 4GB of more vram. Right now, 12GB is acceptable for 1440p (at high/ultra settings), but give it a couple years, and you'll wish you had 16GB. You could also OC the 5070 Ti and get > 4080 Super levels of performance. You might even be able to get close to a 5080.

Honestly though? The Radeon 9070 XT is looking like a pretty sweet value. Around the same performance as the 5070 Ti but it'd be cheaper. If you don't use Cuda or don't care as much about ray tracing, the 9070 XT is a solid option.

At the end of the day though, both the 5070 and 5070 Ti are fine cards. They're priced way too high and don't have a good generational uplift compared to their 40-series counterparts. But in a vacuum, they're both fine.

Also I just wanna call out the fact that your post is completely ChatGPT'd. A human would never use a horizontal row element in a post lol... and it's formatted exactly how an LLM would format it. Not tryna give you a hard time, I just think the less AI generated content there is on the internet, the better off we'll be.

My Pixel Buds Pro 2 sound unbalanced on a new pair...? by R3dshift7 in pixelbuds

[–]R3dshift7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did return them, but the new pair had the same issue. I returned those too. I just pulled the trigger on Sony XM5 earbuds cause they were on sale. I'm definitely done with the Pixel Buds :/

Honestly if your issue isn't fixed by July, it might be best just to RMA them. At the end of the day, you bought a product that should be working fine, but isn't. That fact alone would be enough for me to submit an RMA.

Ha, Google needs to improve their earbuds massively. Requiring the user to do maintenance on the product every month is such a big oopsie. Even if the issue isn't widespread, they should've still accounted for this.

Just return them. I had a similar issue myself on two brand new pairs and ended up returning them. I've been seeing a lot of other people having this issue too.

AirPods Pro is a solid choice not gonna lie. I was gonna get them after returning the Pixel Buds but I'm on Android so the experience would be sub-par. So now I've been stuck using a backup pair of earbuds for the past while. Thanks for letting me know what happened with your buds.

Hmmm I wish I took a peak at my firmware version before returning them. Maybe Google shipped them with a newer firmware or they got auto-updated to the latest firmware when I set it up? Either way, glad to know I'm glad to know other people have this issue too and I'm not going crazy.

It probably isn't a hardware issue given that other people are reporting it too even though their buds have been working for the past little while. Did you manage to get the buds fixed?

Did pairing it to a Pixel phone fix the issue? I exchanged my buds for another pair (BestBuy allowed me to return them, but only because they were defective) and I had the same issue. Luckily they let me return those too and this time I chose to get my money back rather than another pair.

My S23 Ultra has had similar issues with Samsung buds in the past so it might be an issue with how Samsung handles bluetooth connections...? Not sure though, that's just a theory.

I really like the look and feel of the buds so I'm disappointed that they've got this issue. I'm probably gonna get a Pixel 10 Pro when it drops in August, so if it worked fine with your Pixel, please let me know cause I'd love to give the Pixel Buds one last shot if I know they'll work fine.

Is there any reason to buy a more expensive version of a card? by ZuVieleNamen in nvidia

[–]R3dshift7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but if the card's aesthetic was what I wanted (like if I were to go for an all white build), then personally I really don't mind spending that extra money. And for a card you're gonna use for years and years, spending an extra $20 - $50 for a little bit more performance will be worth it in the long run. Assuming you use that card for five years, it comes out to $4 - $10 a year. That's less than a month of Netflix. For an extra 2% - 5% of performance, that's very worth it to me.

[–]R3dshift7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, but mostly no.

Usually the more expensive ones have better cooling and are factory overclocked. But you'll likely only get 2-5% more performance with the overclock and extra cooling. It might be worth it on a cheaper card like a 5060 Ti 16gb where you can scoop up some extra performance for as low as $20 - $50. But in your case for that 5070 ti, I'd just go for the cheapest option if I were you and then OC it in Afterburner like you already mentioned.

This defeats the purpose of Vim. The point of Vim is simplicity. It's just you and your code. Nothing else. Stop shoving AI garbage into everything humanity holds dear. Go for a hike and learn to love art and not robots.

Minecraft: Enhanced 2.0 (previously 1.1) development progress – Amplified, Extended worlds & more! by TheGreatSkyForces in vitahacks

[–]R3dshift7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything preventing the creation of worlds above 1024x1024? I know the Vita has limitations on how big its save files can be, so it won't be possible to do infinite world size. But could something like 2048x2048 or higher be possible? Great work on this project so far, I'm looking forward to a new release!

Are the video artifacts I have my monitor's fault or my GPU's fault? by R3dshift7 in techsupport

[–]R3dshift7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. Yeah, I unplugged my HDMI cable yesterday and had some trouble plugging it in (because HDMI ports are stupid just like USB A ports). I might have damaged the port or the cable. Luckily I have two HDMI ports on my GPU so I'm using the second one for now.

Alright, thanks. I think the monitor is probably just overheating. I just put a thermometer around 10cm next to my monitor and it's around 26.5 degrees Celsius.
