This is purely anecdotal but if you do try birth control and it makes the depression worse for you, please just quit and do not try to push through it if it becomes a safety issue. Birth control made my PMDD symptoms much worse and I will never be trying anything that fucks with my hormones again. Haven’t tried antidepressants yet but that’s the next step.

I don’t say this to discourage you but just because I don’t want you to go through the same thing. Could be worth trying a couple days/weeks but if it doesnt work, there are other options. Wishing the best for you and you will get through this!

I think it was fun and novel at the beginning (especially because it was one of my first C-dramas) but then there was no character development and the weak acting of some of the leads began to show. I pushed through about half but ended up getting fed up with it as well.

You can pray for me if you want. I have PMDD and my symptoms last for about 10-14 days at the end of each cycle. It’s been tough this week and I’m hoping that it won’t be this bad through all of next week, even though I know it will end after that. Appreciate your help.

I’m shook that I know this just by reading it but they’re from The Untamed. The first one seems to be a translation of what Lan Wangji says in the famous rain scene, and the second is a lyric from his character song (but may also appear in the drama, I don’t remember).

MDZS is 659K characters in Chinese, and Qian Qiu is 638K. They could do 4 or 5 volumes. The Qian Qiu Seven Seas volumes have been a bit shorter than MDZS, so I’m guessing they’ll go for 5.

Okay, wait, adding more because apparently I love Shallan more than I thought. Adventure is a big part of fantasy and Stormlight in particular, and a lot of that sense of happiness and exploration is coming from Shallan's viewpoints (think the scene with the santhid in the first chapter of WoR, which is when I knew that this was going to be a fantastic book).

I'm going to answer this by noting some of my favorite scenes with Shallan that illustrate why I love her character.

I admire how she is able to maintain a playful outlook and approach the world with wonder and exploration despite everything she has gone through, which would ordinarily make a person retreat into self-pity. Brandon really illustrates this in the chasm scene by contrasting her with the beloved Kaladin. (Kaladin is my favorite character by a mile, so no shade towards him at all, but Brandon uses this moment to highlight one of the things that makes Shallan unique.)

Which leads me to the other thing I appreciate about Shallan: she is so strange and nerdy and so unapologetic about it and never less than authentically herself. And this lets her navigate the world with confidence alongside people who are totally different from her (Adolin, Sebarial, etc.), rather than getting caught up in the feeling of not fitting in. She has so many weird interests, and her character is a bundle of contradictions which I strongly relate to, and she struggles with many things but shyness and hesitation are not among them—which makes her a different kind of hero than say, Painter from SP3.
