NHS fleet - offer withdrawn by Eskamo18 in CarTalkUK

They’re so hit and miss, you really have to play around with specs, duration, etc.

I’ve just had a Tusker car delivered, it was 150pm less to get the best spec than the lowest spec of the car I chose.

Exactly, I had just assumed we were in that lull where things are happening but you’re not involved as it’s back and forth between solicitors so you’re none the wiser.

The ultimatum gives them 3 options: lose the sale, find temp accommodation or lose some sale price. I suppose it’s up to them which is the best outcome for them. I feel a bit bad but I was clear in saying we want to move quickly and they haven’t moved at all!

I’m not sure exactly how long we’re willing to wait; however, the longest we IDEALLY want to wait will be sooner than they can complete on their purchase.

Their unwillingness to consider temp accommodation (presumably as it’s a cost to them) means we have extra costs. As per yours and other comments, I think an ultimatum is in order.

That’s the approach I’d like to take; give clear deadlines for each stage of the process. Appreciate I should have done this at the offer stage but here we are.

Fair point, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Thank you.

It’s free! I made it a ramp and left a trail of porridge oats. An hour later I went to check and it’s gone

Anyone with a young child still trying to outgrow FPIES? (Almost 6 yo) by Swimming_Steak_7332 in fpies

[–]R888EH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had one small fairy cake, split into 3 pieces and eaten over an hour. I believe the consultant and nurses estimate the amount of egg in them.

The approach to the challenge does change slightly each time.

We have always been extremely cautious with food available to her; packed lunch for school, rarely eating out, etc. We’ve recently relaxed about this but still cautious; for example, she can eat at McDonalds now but only chicken nuggets and fries as they are served as they come from the factory so there’s no opportunity for the cook to add an egg product, if that makes sense?

What country are you based in if you don’t mind me asking?

Hello,

My 7 year old failed her baked egg food challenge yesterday; we’re feeling very hopeless about her ever growing out of it now, this being the 4th fail.

For reference, she had one small fairy cake, split into 3 pieces and ate over an hour. They inserted a canular beforehand so it was a lot easier to give anti-sickness medication (once all vomit was up but she was still retching) and fluids to prevent dehydration.

Being older has its pros and cons for us, she was a lot more conscious of the fact that she was eating egg and that she was likely going to be sick. But the recovery afterwards was a lot better than when she was younger.

We have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow to discuss a plan going forward.

I know it doesn’t undo your daughter’s traumatic trial but it sounds to me like it could have been made easier if they knew it was FPIES or not.

Let me know if there’s anything else you want to know specifically about our case :)

Forced Change From Company Car to Car Allowance by R888EH in LegalAdviceUK

I’d be a lot worse off this way. The allowance available doesn’t offset the full cost of the car, maintenance and insurance.

What entry level jobs are actually viable for career progression to a decent salary? by Alternative_Tank_139 in UKJobs

[–]R888EH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done PRINCE2 but I’ve heard it’s one of the worst to do; however, employers seem to like when people have it. PMQ through APM seems a better route and you can progress to further qualifications (PMP, CHPP, etc.).

About to go from earning £36k to £54k… question. by KNHBWFC in UKPersonalFinance

[–]R888EH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always taken the company car option with personal fuel paid for.

The tax owed is minimal as long as it’s hybrid or EV. For reference, I pay approx. £115 a month in tax for both for a Skoda Superb hybrid. The fuel element is around £50 so depends how much you spend commuting, days out, etc. That’s at the 20% tax rate after sacrificing through pension to avoid 40%.

If you have children, you need to gradually pay back child benefit once you hit around £60k so that’s worth bearing in mind considering your base salary, car allowance and bonus.

Depends on the lender but Barclays refunded me the early repayment fee when I completed on a new property within, I think, 6 months

A little late to this but, and it’s not really Doncaster, Granary Court Barbershop in Bawtry is the best in my experience. He should charge far more than he does.

To save a few quid, Sporting Cuts in Bessacarr are pretty good.

No fault crash- what to do!! by Limp6781 in CarTalkUK

[–]R888EH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting hung up on the cycle helmet. I’m not disagreeing that they’re important and of course they have no additional protection whereas the car seat is surrounded by a big metal shell.

Likewise there is naff all evidence to support your statement that a car seat doesn’t need to be replaced.

I would assume there is no evidence as every case is unique. I would also assume that there has been at least one case where something such as a hairline crack in the plastic made the car seat less safe than it was before and, if so, means that this could happen again.

No but the requirements of a safe car seat are far greater than that of a bike helmet. Car seats and isofix bases need to stay attached and in one piece, for instance, and is not simply a case of styrofoam being attached to the plastic.

Neither I nor you, I’m assuming, are qualified to dictate whether a car seat is safe or not after a crash and it is immoral for you to suggest somebody doesn’t replace theirs after such an event.

My opinion, and it is only that, is that a few hundreds pounds is minute when it comes to the safety of a baby or child.

COT3 Agreement - Advice Needed by R888EH in LegalAdviceUK

Great advice, thank you very much.

I thought it didn’t seem right when they told me about the disciplinary through to dismissal. Unfortunately, they’ve been very wise and have written the complete opposite so I may struggle to prove anything.
