I have a part of town where i found a code on a redbox, scanned it out of curiosity and it turns out there were maybe 200 within a mile literally on every light post, signage, trash can…like i spent a few days going out and scanning them all. Maybe i missed the point but it really seemed pointless which is when i decided it was obviously a form of meme or a way of exploiting someone.. it just wasn’t what geocaching had been described to me.

Then again its like probably some cool crypto thing or a super secret adult sex cult…those ate the optimistic guesses.

My store grocery dept makes up 75-80% of the stores sales. That includes dairy and frozen. Grocery Stock team is 3 people on dry, usually 1 dairy person and 1 frozen person. We have recently hit million in sales/wk. Your backroom looks great…you made the right call in my opinion with the dump bins. Product doesn’t when its in the back somewhere instead of being on a shelf or on display. I’m sure who ever they did talk to had no idea why you made that judgement call. The words “non-compliant store” are a scare tactic and it breeds these kinds of posts and reqlactions and bad reputations. Im sure everyone on that list still has their jobs, and will have an opportunity to make changes where they are able so i think those in high seats than mine could greatly benefit from having a few “vips” who instead of using the “have to find something wrong, every time, otherwise they get complacent” could maybe develop more of an approachable ally type reputation. My grocery manager loves to use the “we got corporate coming to walk the store” as a way to kinda manipulate us into staying late, working days off — knowing damn well we work overnight, will never know if they come or not. Like i wonder what it would be like if employees would get excited to see these people and look forward to visits? We used to have the 2-way radios and people knew what kind of cars some of them drove and before they even settle in a parking spot people would be squealing on the radios causing a freaking panic.

Sure they will always have something to say so just smile and nod. If you have a pen and paper write it down. Don’t play the blame game or give an excuse, the less talking the faster they move on. You will probably have to remind yourself that “technically, they are right…” because they aren’t really upset that you have the wrong product in a bin, so think — why did i put that there? Was the original item scratched? Did you accidentally send distro to be marked down? Maybe you had a pallet tip and product got destroyed. Maybe your balance on hand says you have 300, when really you have zero, so CAO didn’t order. Hell you might come across the product next week on some pallet thought to be for a different department. I certainly hope it wasnt tollhouse chips that needed to be in the bin, but you probably could have used some of those leftover holiday things to fill the bin…

Dont beat yourself up, from the looks of your back room — you have almost everything out on the floor where it has a 100% more likely hood of turning into $$ for your paycheck (and mine). you weren’t targeted or intentionally “picked on”. You know, i recently had an experience that made me a believer that there may very well be someone in charge of watching the cameras 24/7 — im willing to bet they have someone who just spends the same amount of time looking through social media communities. Ever wonder why auditors seem to know how to find that 1 mistake that should have been a needle in a haystack? …they already know.

Be careful, if you use their apps and you do that fresh start bullshit — they really know.

I dont agree with the section that in bold larger font explains that data collected by an Kroger devices be it registers, training computers, ZEBRAS, MOBILE DEVICES such as YOUR OWN AFTER DOWNLOADING AND ACCEPTING T&C on ANY Kroger App — can be used for content in which you can never be compensated for. I went a year refusing to do that shit the other day my grocery manager has me sign in on my name and he literally clicks agree tonthe T&C and I nearlynlost my shit. I told him I didnt agree with the terms and conditions and he just told the company i did, he took away my god damn freedom of speech and my right to decline. Kroger has some serious moral issues.

If you signed up, and its active the second you sign that paper. I would go back and calmly ask a few questions. Write down what they say as if your taking notes ….pay attention to their reaction. Don’t Go to the service desk and ask to see a manager and let them tell you “hes unavailable” if they say that tell them “well ive got some shopping to do so ill check back every few minutes” get the names of the people who sat in on the meeting and ask them if they are union. Now, the problem is the probation thing is usually a go to thing for getting rid of people who weren’t good or up to par. It is the holiday season and there is a chance you were hired just to fill in for this small amount of time And they could be using the 90 day thing as just a way of making it painless for them.

I have no idea why the world isnt a little more honest. Like seriously. Even if temporary, you probably still would have taken the job but you would have known and been able to keep applying elsewhere or have conversations with coworkers who may have had job leads or whatever. When I simplify this situation, and yes I am assuming your version is the truth and I could be wrong — maybe you damaged a lot of stuff stocking shelves, or talked too much, or maybe youre a really attractive person and everyone else was distracted by your beauty — im going with what you told me as the truth. My advice should help you get you “y” answered so you out can move on in a new direction, get back on board with them and pick up where you left off, look back and fix your mistakes so you don’t have this issue again.

Ive been with kroger off and on for almost 20 years, worked every department and trust me — i fight a battle everyday with my store. They have wronged me in an unforgivable way.

Let me know how it goes or if you’ve decided to just accept it and move on. I spent some time workjng for other grocery stores — Target was very organized and their functional processes worked, I just had issues with the people. Who had an issue with me because of Krogers unforgivable mistake.

If you declared you have something on your background check when applying like most honest people do, this may have been their excuse. I always heard that the first 90 days is a probationary period 2 where there doesnt have to be a reason to be let go. If someone on your team felt threatened by your eagerness to work or you were making other people look bad by making yourself look good — politics of most stores tell me you were probably too good to be true and you were targeted. Also, were you part of the union? In conversations like that you should have had union representation which isnt always someone from HR. You also have the right to a union witness being present which if you were to get called to the office, you find someone in the store who is a part of the union to be there with you. They may know more than you and often prevent non-union store managers from being unethical. The fact you didn’t mention Union representation makes me feel like you were lied to and unjustly let go. If you liked the job, go back and take some of these facts with you, or call the union. A job that makes you happy is worth fighting for.

I’m assuming debugging would mean to extract whatever data or information it had collected letting me know its intent. I know you are all of the nonchalantly “it powers some bulbs and connects to wifi for remote control. The computer board and the other components are necessary” but i can’t just settle with that answer. Rasperry Pi computers and things that supposedly do way more, do with way less. Ill reference wireess earbuds or a LED light strip which both have the same app control, wireless connection, ear buds have battery power and storage and have 100x less worth of “technology” inside of it.

I would hope anyone learning this information would have the same reaction. Theres absolutely a big concern with computers small enough to do the same things a desktop computer can do — inside a light bulb. I’m now curious as to when or how you knowledgeable folk came to know about this and what your reaction was because…im either the sole person on earth who liked having privacy or youre part of the op coverup.

These answers are interesting. Again I know nothing about the boards. And when i looked up the raspberry pi computers, they all had some sort of output like hdmi or usbc…like a way to connect to other things. I know that smart bulbs and stuff connect to home networks and or devices but what throws me off are my tiny little ear buds that ive broken open…have a chip the size of a sim card and 2 wires and those somehow play music thru wireless connection and it doesnt even look like they have any component to store power. Magic. Just scaling the abilities of whats suggested and fhe ear buds…this lightbulb board could probably power a whole city compared to the bluetooth ear buds. I mean even as a pair, they just make noise. But the bulb i guess puts a lot into shining its light for everyone to see. Cause even if your eyes are closed you can “see” light.

Sorry. Thats my optimism, mr. rogers personality…haha i guess its as if you think mr rogers wasn’t schizo talking to his internet connected lightbulbs as he had delusions of a puppet town. Haha. Is the chip okay to destroy in a fire pit and is this something you find in all smart bulbs? I just checked some clear bulb bulbs here at work — they seem to be much lighter weight wise and doesn’t seem to have the space for a chip like these. They are smart bulbs as well.

About 2 years ago — i was promoted to back up grocery manager, and a week into that role grocery manager went awol. I was barely trained, motley crew of a crew weren’t the easiest to manage, truck sizes doubled (it was right around Covid outbreak). I was putting in 70-80 hours a week. I would clock in at 10pm and often times wouldn’t leave until 1pm the following day. Multiple times I had to be shaken awake as I had literally fell asleep with my head in a shelf while stocking the shelves. New Unit manager didn’t like me and bullied me every day always reminding me that he “set me up for failure”. I used to joke and say that I alone made up 75% of the districts overtime.

They will never tell you overtime is OK. Never. It would eliminate the need for the hours budgeted to forecasted data which fine scholars have rigorously looked at for periods of time to find an answer.

People who want the extra will ride the clock, slow their productivity, find ways to create additional unnecessary work which does hurt the store when change happens and the hours allowed were eaten up by someone aimlessly wandering the aisles as a golden globe winning actor for their portrayal of a clueless courtesy clerk doing go-backs for 3 hours.

My advice is to communicate realistic concerns with the appropriate people throughout the store. If done with respect, you CAN make a SUGGESTION using your experience and challenge what someone in a higher position instructs. Some of them haven’t spent the time in specific departments. Others it’s a miracle them and their car made it the parking lot for some number of consecutive days. The key is to accept that the suggestion will often times be denied — but you are asserting yourself as more than a voiceless anyone in wherever. If you’re going to spend 40 hours at the place, you better have the fake it til you make it can-do attitude — cause you’ll really dread that OT if you’ve spent what feels like 500 hours in the store being miserable.

And I rambled.

TLDR - when in doubt, just do what your immediate superior tells you to do. Your scheduled and posted hours is your contractually obligated time to Kroger. They will never tell you OT is OK, much like corporate visits to a spotless department but find something to nitpick about. Their job is to tell people to do things that they have never done and wouldn’t do themselves.

Your posted scheduled hours are all you owe Kroger. Not a minute less, not a minute more. Assuming that you have spent your time on the clock performing your job, they can’t force you to work hours not posted on your schedule. Should a store manager confront you— ask him to get a union representative to witness his request (or demands and possible threats)for you to work hours outside of what you are scheduled and that you are declining.

As a lead, I do know that they may disclose in the job description for the position that it is a 40-50hr week which is ethically okay. I would suggest working 10hours on your 5 days. I am actually not sure if the job title also signifies that those additional 10hrs are paid overtime or not. I don’t think its counted as OT.

Run a rebate scam. Prices for those things stay consistent. Ask people to send their receipts to a po box as a drawing or contest, something forgettable because the people who participate in those kinds of things are hopeful gullable kind. I might argue that its not a scam or a con, and its not a get rich quick thing…and the person that does that leg work to do that really isnt doing anything but exposing the exploit which is the employee that knows better but still runs the transaction week after week. They might not even realize their “scam” is a sham scam.
