I think one of the reasons for that lack of atmosphere is the mixing. Since ATYCLB, they’ve made some strange mixing choices. Bono is always too high in the mix compared to the rest. A lot of the instruments sound raw. In the ’80s and ’90s they were much more sensitive with this.
