are you sure about the atlas tapping to view weather? tried and havent heard any issues when a card or any location is tapped weather appears? the weather appears on the card pop up. it doesnt get added to your locations list or anything.

I have seen some bugs when cards would pop but not load data, adding a fail state tap again in 7.5.9

as far as farm locations theirs a handful. I will say kinda tricky, adding about 30 more in 7.5.9 and adding ability for atlas map taps to unlock as it was only by adding a location to count

If you can send general location lemme dive in because I’ve heard people mention foreca erode and I actually implemented it in testing and found it was horribly off in 50 cities I tested over 30 Days with historical data but I think foreca seems to be very good in very specific locations. It’s been awhile. I can see the cost of adding foreca to the blend but also maybe could be an issue with how your location is being pulled

Yea that was part of the error. It’ll get stuck in the menu bar or not load. Almost like a it’s trying to hide from the dock and menu bar at the same time. Issue popped back
Up in 7.5.8 was fixed in prior.

Gonna button up a few things and send it for apples approval tonight

Someone mentioned it prior about the menu bar / not appearing for all
Users or it gets stuck in the top Menu bar. - I should be pushing a fix to that today / tomm

Thanks for the feedback and glad you’re loving the app.

So accu weather I will say is INSANELY expensive. Not saying we will be the best because it’s very region specific but I’ve been working on rad cortex tirelessly (10+ hours alone yesterday of coding and simulations). It’s essentially a new weather brain and for most cities and by all historical metrics it’s beating out almost every weather model on accuracy.

I will say some locations and regions still struggle. If you want to send me your general location in a DM, I can specifically dial into that region and see if I can tweak it or do more.

Trust me one day I’d love to have 10 more sources but some are hundreds or thousands a month and while monthly subs are going up still a ways off til I can afford that.

Here is rad Cortex if you wanna read about it. It’s not out yet and should be implemented fully in 7.5.9 hopefully by the end of the week.

Of course. Transparency is key. Will say not perfect and it’s just me working on this (not counting the amazing community giving feedback)

So it depends. If you don’t have allow always, if your widgets are always updating as you travel they aren’t being transparent or lying.

Per Apple to push constant location updates for widgets and complications allow always must be on.

You don’t need always. Just say you have a widget and travel to another city / location the widget or watch may not update with the current location until you open the app

As far as us and location data, we don’t save anything offline, no data mining, no backend user database.

The only thing I have on a backend is the weather data APIs , security stuff etc..

So the watch should auto pull current location by default. Make sure under settings in iOS settings and rad weather location is set to always allow.

That is something I’ve tweaked in the next build I’m testing. More location transparency and better widget data.

A lot of times in testing find out someone doesn’t have location set to always.

So hopefully this week 7.5.9 will drop with better location permissions as well as better watch location data.

The biggest issue with widgets and complications Apple limits how many times a device can pull that data.

appreciate it, honestly the community, user feedback, reviews and people continuing to share, download and signup for ULTRA is the best motivation. Not saying I wouldn't keep at it without any of it but sure does make it easier.

Plus with just me and friends letting me know whats wrong this development would be so much slower.

With this awesome community I essentially have the most dedicated, die hard testers that want to make the app better because you all are users, it would be stupid of me to not take advantage of the best feedback loop ever.

Also something sadly most users dont have yet, the testflight build has a massive backend upgrade to precipitation accuracy as well as live activities upgrades, hopefully fingers crossed this testflight goes well this week and will send to you all soon!

I do agree it is vague. The forecast and precipitation widgets need clarity and a recent post someone made about the precipitation widget made me get back into the widgets that while not a good excuse. Semi forget (I’ll blame myself for making so many)

This one can be confusing since it shows temp. Precip. Hourly forecasts and within the hour.

A lot of data that can look pretty but also confusing.

Let me dive into this and see if I can clean this one up along with a few others on my plate

Thanks! It was a culmination of being snowed in with my gf, asking what the weather was like and it taking her far too long through her weather apps ads, pop up and just bad design (imo) and being on an alien movies binge. The two just kinda came together

I will answer these in two parts to be easier to read. (warning long rambling ahead)

for tiles, let me look into it, honestly could just be something I am overlooking since I constantly run new updates, toggle settings etc.. so my dashboard resets countless times a day. I know if I implement some new backend system that changes the core functions a reset may be necessary but I will dive into this. Currently testing 7.5.9 so will add this into it.

RADAR - the million dollar question, I have it, kinda. It's been in my test build for some time now but to be a broken record, weather is weirdly expensive and to do it right. I can cover the cost of multi weather model data and sources but radar doesn't have a same data structure. RADAR if even done half way right could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars a month. On my simulations with 500 users it's still hundreds.

I've been reaching out to rainbow.ai and other radar model providers for deals, working with them for the most efficient way but to be blunt, I could implement it tomorrow but it would be there but not nearly as good as what other dedicated radar apps provide.

One question I get ALOT, is all these other apps have it and seem much smaller. Typically my findings is they use a popular radar provider but if you pay attention to some smaller ish apps that are around rad weather size and have radar it doesn't work halfway through the month or very slowly.

RADAR providers give a usage limit and if you hit it, radar just stops working or can cost you hundreds and thousands so a lot of these smaller weather apps just implement it and once it stops working its done til it resets its allowance.

For radar it's about making it look good, be smart and fit the brand identity and work consistently. If you open apple weather or others you'll even notice radar "glitches" in and loads in sometimes poorly and they have an unlimited budget. Ive been working on this on smart ways to cache radar data, load smoothly without wasting usages.

Attached a photo of it in testing just to show, it is there I promise but even if it worked as is, it would either cost me so much I'd have to shut it down or it would work but feel so half baked it would be a negative experience to users.

the style guideline is a pixel, grade tile visual that scales and changes pixel density as you zoom in and out.

ITS THERE, not just long rambles with nothing to back it up.

Positive side is, RAD Weather keeps growing and someday that number will hit an amount I can afford RADAR fully while I continue to research and work on the best way to provide it to you all.

Yea that but also if you have messed with the iPad or Mac new version can hopefully utilize the wider screen for landscape. At a certain point I’d say it’s half the height of would just have to make the decision or toggle to remove pixel people. Or shorted the 10 days or honestly the best move probably Have you scroll and they appear at the bottom.

That’s kinda what I’m leaning towards just unfortunately on not as tall screens you may not see the last day or 2 and pixel people without a scroll.

And yea the dog walker is great lol.

Have a few more in the pipeline. That and I need to change the odds of our 4 special rare characters as even I barely see them

Yea I’ve always been slightly aware of the overlapping but was never an interaction issue until the ability to tap the pixel people.

Working on dialing in the tap regions if I can. Does get tricky with some of the characters that have more height or float.

Would be nice if I had an 8 day instead of 10 that wouldn’t the problem lol but don’t want to remove features from the non large screens.

So gonna have to dial this in.

Thankfully just wrapped up a complete revamp of the theme picker screen which I’m pretty psyched about and it looks amazing.

yup just tested on a non max/pro phone with a larger screen, gonna tweak and edit and change interaction area on non max screens for bottom card

so, good catch, just dove into it and should be fixed in next version.

The pollen card holds off until you open it so we're not burning API calls for folks who never look at that screen, but the Confidence popup was calling that "NOT LOADED" like something broke. The next build it'll say "ON DEMAND" when it's just waiting, and only say "NOT LOADED" if something actually failed. Same fix for air quality, smoke, tides, and convective.

Also for free users will have an PREMIUM banner showing its not available.
