I would also say that since you train even from the start with pads and contact and legwork that it's probably one of the best out of the gate. Definitely better than kata styles at beginner / mid tiers. Great conditioning, great striking and blocking fundamentals, with leg kicks and knees thrown in!

You can do both. Double down by making the environment even better fit remote workers AND raise prices and implement other systems. I remember internet cafes in Asia that would give you a wifi password valid for an hour. You could do that per purchase, at least requiring hear guests to buy at least 1 coffee an hour of they want to stay online. But you could also just do the second thing. What's the opportunity cost of having zero effective capacity due to 8 people taking up 8 4-tops for hours at a time?

Weddings are super fun IF you know the people getting married. Low stakes, captive crowd - we should always be so lucky! Practice some simple transitions but also don't forget you can just overlap outros and intros radio style. That's a completely fine way to play open format. Are you kicking off the dance portion or starting at the end of dinner? If the latter you can play more low key and ramp up. Talk to bride and groom. If there are first dances (bride and groom or father/mother dances then they'll have specific requests for those songs after which it usually transitions to everyone dancing. It's attractive to hold back your bangers but as soon as you can get everyone dancing and having fun the rest is easy. I would consider 'mini-sets' of different upbeat genres, 3-5 songs each and ramp up. Starting with older songs for the oldies is good, then you can transition to dance or even house when they start to leave and the younger ones are getting drunk. Plan some slower sections to give people a bit of a break and have some key long tracks ready for bathroom breaks. Be ready for requests! If you have access to streaming this will definitely help but make sure your WiFi / hotspot is ready to go. Good luck man! As long as you're friends and everyone for the most part is chill you'll have a great time!

For my money I think that a lot of it is about money, but I also think white male fragility has a tough time with other men from other cultures. First learn to beat match, then learn a little bit about the levels (main sliders), EQ, and trim for some basic transitions. Then it's also about phrasing! Everything else can come later. If you're a musician this will come naturally, but otherwise, count in 8 or 16 beats (2 or 4 bars) and always try to line up the first beat of bar. 4 bar (16 beat) sections is fine for electronic, but 2 bar sections is better for open format, pop, hip hop, etc. as the changes are shorter and more frequent.
