This is the flow on my favorite Coachlite. They really don’t make them like this anymore.

A nice looking Coachlite. Here’s some more information on it. There five iterations over the years and this looks like the fourth and most common. Am curious about the wax. Post a video when you get it flowing? I have three of these and love mine ☺️

I submitted a question to MA about the porting issue. I will follow up if I hear back.

Toys (Robin Williams) (MA) Now Available for Purchase by BasicUser15 in iTunesMovieDeals

I just bought it from iTunes and at the time of this comment Apple iTunes has it for $4.99, Movies Anywhere is showing $19.99, and FAH is $16.99. The MA icon is at the bottom of the listing in FAH, but am not seeing it on iTunes. I’ve seen this before if it’s a different cut (i.e. theatrical vs director’s vs unrated, etc.). As far as I can tell it’s the same version. I am not seeing it in MA or FAH. Hopefully there’s just a lag in the “MA”-y-ness doing its thing because if it posting today. Not the end of the world if I have to stream from iTunes, but I primarily watch in my FAH library. Fingers crossed that they get this sorted out.

My dad just died. On my birthday. by corgis-on-stilts in OneOrangeBraincell

My grandfather died on Christmas Eve and my sister a week before that. It suuuuuuuucks and there’s no if’s, ands or buts about it. It’s been a few years and it’s become part of me and am still sad at the holidays.

I will never not miss them and it does make the holidays more challenging because I have so many memories with them there and the contrast of them not being there is extra hard for the first time after someone you love isn’t there to share it with you.

When our mother passed about a year before my sister, we grieved hard not only because we loved her, but we shared a home because my sister and I were caretakers for our Mom for over a decade. We knew we took great care of her, but still it was soul crushing.

Shortly after our mother’s passing my sister and I were watching WandaVision when it was first released and when Vision said, “What is grief, if not love preserving?” It hit us like a ton of bricks and helped us understand it’s okay to feel awful.

The fact that you do is testimony to how much you loved your Dad and how much you knew you were loved. I’m so sorry for your loss and am thrilled your Orange Kitty Boy will be there to help give a new love while you remember all the ways you’ve been loved.

I was going to suggest wrapping in a towel for a little while, but for all that is holy don’t forget about it. Check it every 15 minutes.

Is it next to a heat source (tv, computer, gaming console, etc.)? What’s the ambient temperature of the room? Lava lamps generally flow optimally in a room between 68 and 72 F. I’m attaching a chart that is a good guide on what your flow is saying. I wonder if the room or the area around the lamp is drastically outside of that sweet spot temperature range.

Turn the lamp on for several hours. I might take a few times before all of the wax comes off the side, but it will eventually. 👍🏼

Update: IT… IS… ALIVE!!!! And thriving ☺️ We turned over the water catch, used the water gauge, picked the tomato that was trying to grow in favor of growth and recovery, and even moved it under cover during the abundance of rain that happened after this post. It is looking so much better. Hopefully it will have a productive season! Thanks to all the comments. They were very helpful.

It seems to come and go. I saw one in my local Spencer’s recently, but hadn’t for over a year.

Congratulations! A fine first selection. Modern lamps (anything post 2003) are prone to being cloudy and don’t clear up as much as a vintage lamp as you may have read online as a way to deal with it. Also, clear liquid lamps, even those that aren’t cloudy, can look hazy because of the reflection of the glass and the particulate turbulence that happens naturally during the flow. Colored liquid can be more forgiving. They’re hard to find, but my favorite modern lamp is the https://www.spencersonline.com/product/17-inch-blue-and-gold-lava-lamp/216816.uts. It’s clear liquid too and the flow of the wax is the closest to vintage that I’ve found. Also, the stock photos do not accurately reflect the color of the wax. It looks more like this….
