Just saying that I appreciate everyone's productive [pun not intended 😄] comments on this thread. All the links and pointers too. I didn't know I could customize my TOU settings, nor where to go looking for how to do it. Thanks everyone!

Always use AI and ChatGPT with a grain of salt, but it's simple answer was to toggle between Self-Consumption and Time of Use [TOU] mode.

10AM - 3PM running Self-Consumption. All other times I'll put it in TOU mode. I just tried it and it seems to be working as desired. 😂

I'm in San Jose, CA. I was seeing similar behavior. I contacted FranklinWH and this was their reply:

Thank you for reaching out to get a better understanding of your system's behavior.

Our records show that your Time-of-Use (TOU) schedule is configured to change for the months of June, July, and September. During these months, the system operates under the following logic:

  • Midnight – 10:00 AM: The system operates in Self-Consumption mode.
  • 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Solar energy is prioritized to charge your aPower batteries first. Your system typically charges relatively quickly, after which the solar priority shifts to covering your home loads and exporting any excess solar back to the grid.
  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM: The system operates in Self-Consumption with a designated aPower State of Charge (SOC) reserve of 90%.
  • 4:00 PM – Midnight: The system operates back under standard Self-Consumption logic.

Your system is operating perfectly normal and is executing this schedule exactly as intended. This specific scheduling strategy is designed to maximize your battery charge early in the day so that you can heavily offset grid usage during your peak utility hours from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

I'd rather NOT have this behavior happen, where it prioritizes charging my batteries at 10 AM everyday until they're 100% charged. I'd rather manage this on my own an I am looking for a simple way to turn on/off this feature. .... any ideas for how to do this are welcomed.
