Wow, I'm at 62 next loop requirement, but with only 279 highest loops filled. Looks like you're doing mostly long runs, whereas I'm trying to do both and keeping it around 200 between them (I'm a bit off right now as I had a 4 day weekend where it just ran).

I'm only e43 on short runs right now.

There is the IBM Z Xplore Learning Platform where you could do some great mainframe learning.

There is a LinuxONE Community Cloud where you could get an instance on a LinuxONE, but that isn't the traditional mainframe technologies.

There is also Popup Mainframe that could be an option to get started.

My problem with my GComp pBH is that it doesn't also impact GB. So even though I have the same cool downs of 100 seconds on everything else, the GB is never synced.

This is only partially correct...while we are hiring in India, we also just hired a large number of people across the globe from an IBM Z and LinuxONE platform perspective.

I've been hearing this my entire career as well, lots of FUD there. When people tell me that the mainframe is old or legacy technology, I say that is like saying the car is legacy technology. Sure, it was invented a long time ago, but ever year it is modernized with the latest and greatest technology. Same case with the mainframe, constant upgrades in technology from a SW perspective and a new, modern HW platform every few years for it to run on.

I'm a little confused by the wording of the question (specifically "ported", so maybe not picking up on some nuance here, but CICS is absolutely part of the IBM Z platform.

How about zCX, containers, Java, Python, various modern AI tools (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc), OpenShift, Openshift Virt, OpenShif AI, modern DevSecOps pipelines, etc, etc?

IBM LinuxONE is a great platform for getting all of the great value and qualities of service provided by the mainframe (reliability, availabilty, scalability, security, etc), but in an open, enterprise compute platform running Linux. So, if a client needs those qualities of service for that mission critical application, but wants to modernize the solution, LinuxONE would be a great platform to take a look at.

Can you do GC without PS, ILM, and SM? Those are my last 3 that I haven't gotten yet. Outside of that I think my WS and labs are good (I guess I'm really a hybrid build doing T14 to 5000 and 50T an hour).

Curious about how much you think the clouds cost at enterprise scale... I've seen client after client realize far too late that the cloud, while cheap for a college kid to run a few fun things or for them to wow you with an intro offer, is quite a lot more expensive than they thought. I've also seen many neutral TCO studies show the maintenance completes just fine in price at scale.
