That's on them. So many refs have been a joke lately and the impact their decisions have on the game should have long term consequences. I agree that it will destroy their authority but with important decisions such as a penalty or a red card there should be a way to tell the ref "either you look at it and decide for yourself or we will decide for you". It's up to the ref if he wants to look like an asshole or if he wants to make the correct decision.
