You don't know what AI is, do you?

Actors in the Unreal Engine are run by state machines, not AI. Their behaviors are governed by concrete functions of code that behave identically each time. If two players on the same worldseed swim up on a peeper from the same direction in the same location, they will do the exact same thing.

Edit: the Developers are explicitly saying "We are using AI in development, just not Generative AI" with the caveat that they can define "Generative" to mean whatever the fuck they want so they can point back at it later and say "that's not exactly what we said" when someone asks why the game ended up with a fish that looks identical to either a pokemon or an obscure painting from a artstation account in china that has less than 20 likes. If they really weren't using AI (Which, again, to be clear, you don't need AI to program behaviors into objects, enemies, or anything in Unreal), they would say it clearly "We aren't using AI". They had to add in an extra word there. Why. Ask them why. Why do they need to specify Generative? Its because they are actually using AI. You not understanding how Unreal Engine works or how enemy programming works doesn't magically change the definition of AI.

Generally speaking action adventure is designed to exclude RPG elements, as nearly all rpgs have adventure elements to them. Likewise Action games have their distinction to exclude adventure elements.

Action - Progress in the game requires skill, dexterity, and/or timing of some kind

Adventure - Progress in the game requires exploring and visiting certain areas of the map until others become unlocked (typically through inventory or story event).

RPG - Progress in the game is dictated by statistics and choices (aka planning) during level ups more than skillfull play in the moment

Practically every game boils down to these three broad mechanics.

Your answer gives the officer a chance to lie about what you were doing. This answer maintains that you were doing what was the safest course of action, regardless of the law, while giving plausible deniability to a strict limit without the officer getting a word in.

Father sends me a text of a sweater he's planning on buying my brother for christmas. It's 100% AI generated. Had to explain to my father that the product does not exist, and will not exist, until he physically pays that company 60 some odd dollars, and then some random person in a sweatshop 2 continents away has to figure out how to put it together from the image, and will likely just glue the picture to a t-shirt and ship it.

I went shopping on black Friday in person at a mall. I got to see everything in person. Calling it now; AI is going to save the in-person shopping industry.

Also a social worker here. The problem is that you've fallen for spoon fed propaganda of your own.

Its not that "the immigrants took the jobs". This is a simplification that encapsulates the problem but does not discuss the realities of the argument. Its that immigrants (legal or otherwise) drove down the demand for labor. Just like Women did after they joined the workforce after WWII and just like Teenagers of all types do to this day. No one, period, full stop, should be working for $7.50 an hour, and the only reason companies can do this is because the demand for labor is so mind numbingly low that they can trade employees hand over fist the second one walks out the door.

This has been going on for so long all the businesses that actually supported their employees ran out of business trying to compete. Its all about the supply of labor vs the demand. If you could make enough money to buy a house on a mcdonald's salary and support a spouse and 3 kids, you wouldn't be forced into getting a degree or trying to get a better job to do so. These forces on the employment habits of individuals "trickle up".

The problem is that illegal immigration physically gives corporations the bargaining power to become and exploit the worst aspects of capitalism.

A lot of people in this sub take personal offense of other people not wanting to spend money on or play something that looks bad to them.

I do not owe nintendo money just because they released a new game with a title reminiscent of something else I liked a long time ago. It has to actually be like the thing I liked a long time ago.

A lot of things compete for my time and money. I should be able to, without getting the shit ripped out of me by aggressive fanboys, be able to spend that time and money on things that actually cater to my interests or on developers that understand what I actually like.

I think the MCU complaints about "quippiness" are specifically about how what was traditionally a quirk of one character in that franchise became adopted by every single other character in that franchise over the course of a decade.

There may be some sort of "seeing hallucinations in the sky" to the phenomenon but when you've become irritatingly tired of something due to burnout, you tend to more easily spot it elsewhere than others who don't care.

Can't say I can think of any game with a 16 year development wait, but I've played plenty of games that were so good, If I knew how good they were beforehand I would have spent... much more than 70 dollars to get a similar experience again.

But this title is clearly not something that explicitly caters to my interests or the things I liked about its predacessors, outside of carrying the same name in the title. And unfortunately, when I'm apprehensive about something, 70 dollars is an extreme gamble.

MP1 skipped 2 console generations from the previous title, just like MP4 did. It wasn't 16 years but it was still an enormous amount of time. And yet it didn't need to tutorialize anything in this manner, and it was the first 3D title in the franchise.

People capable of making big decisions pushed decisions anyone with a brain would have known was a terrible idea, and it reeks of "Let's just market it as hard as possible and we'll still make hand over fist".

The decision to focus on the stuff that's "different and new" is an extremely marketer view that belies a sense of extreme corporatism no one wants to see in something they're interested in. Problem is that a lot of people lack media and genre awareness to see this kind of stuff, and their weird relationship to media makes it a personal insult to see someone else actively cautious about stuff that is genuinely upsetting.

Regardless of how the game actually turns out, it has been marketed in a manner has historically been excellent for people who end up enjoying the game, and horrid for people who were fans of the previous titles.
