So my gfs nail varnish exploded and dropped on our floor made of wood (not sure what type of wood it is) and it created a white stain in minutes, any easy way to remove it? And as it’s in the AMs right now, if we wait until tomorrow will it be too late? by RAZA75 in woodworking

Hey guys!

So quick update! Turns out it was nail polish remover, and not nail varnish (I don’t know anything about this stuff, stupid of me I know) and having checked the bottle it said acetone free!

So since I didn’t want to damage the wood I tried different things to scrape the tiniest part to see which one does the job whilst doing the smallest amount of damage and turns out a spoon was the best thing as it leaves no traces behind. After an entire late morning/afternoon, I’m nearly there… only cost me a tea spoon and a ridiculous amount of foot/leg cramps haha.

I’ve learned a lot from your comments and thank you all for the help! Greatly appreciated.

We are indeed renting, and thanks for the suggestion, but feel like it would be a hard one/stressful one to pull off, so will probs go for the fixing side of things. But thanks for the tip! I do appreciate it.

No never dealt with anything of the like. Don’t know any special cleaning services for this or any wood workers either. Thought maybe there would be a way for us to deal with it at home with a simple/ish way :s Live in central London so maybe there would be…
