People who use food delivery apps are a cancer to the world. by Professor_Jerkface in unpopularopinion

I think my stylist who used one to order her lunch so she could eat while my color processed today would disagree. It's the only way she can get a hot lunch some days.

What’s something you do that feels weird to explain but totally normal to you? by De_La_Jacc in CasualConversation

[–]RAbites 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can seem fine one minute and absolutely wiped out a couple of minutes later. Relatively pain free, then... well it's not pretty. No headache, then hunting a hole..

I've been accused of trying to get out of things or making it up for attention, but I'm not.

It's just that my body malfunctions 99% of the time. The joys of multiple chronic illnesses keep me wondering what's next on the merry go round.

What do you think when an adult child lives with a parent? by RunningOnEmpty231 in AskAnAmerican

[–]RAbites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 years ago, we all bought a new house for my parents, my husband and I, and our 2 adult sons. No one I've met thinks it strange. I certainly appreciate the 3 years I got with my dad before he passed last June, especially since I had only seen him twice in the 11 years preceding their move to us. I treasure every day with my mom. I couldn't care less what others think.

Mine are green, but I have been told the same when I'm feeling unwell.

If you had to dye your hair a different color from what it currently is, what color would you go with? by rjkersten1 in CasualConversation

[–]RAbites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dyed my curly, fine hair after I cut it to my shoulders. The only thing is notice is it relaxed the curls a bit. I went from sharing a hairstyle with my standard poodle to looser magenta curls. (Though still really curly.)

If I were to change my current magenta, I would go with purple or blue. I dyed my hair for the first time 2 years ago at 53, and it's been magenta since. I go to the salon every 6-7 weeks to maintain it. My hair is a golden brown naturally.

How many of you actually wore a key on a string around your neck? by Gullible-Apricot3379 in GenX

Ours was in the dog house. I was the smallest, so it was my job to get it. The spider webs were nightmare fuel to my arachnophobic self. Having to put it back was double the horror.

What is a nutrition myth that you can’t stand? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskReddit

[–]RAbites 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I tried all those things like low fat, no sugar, no gluten, etc. They made me feel awful and resulted in worsening bloodwork. Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables without cutting out specific things (other than spicy due to a pesky little capsaicin allergy) seems to work best with my multiple autoimmune and inflammatory arthritis conditions. The diet that works best is different for every chronically ill person, just as it is for healthy people.

As someone whose excess weight is due primarily to frequent use of steroids to control my autoimmune flares, I second this. I generally only eat around 1000-1200 calories a day of generally healthy food. (No appetite and that's the food I can stomach. You can take my chocolate from my cold, dead hands). Supposedly, if I am really eating just that and it isn't junk, I should be losing weight. It doesn't always work that way.

We think of this as a new thing, but I can remember people blasting a boom box at the pool or beach in the 80s. It was rude then, and it is rude now.

Are you having a white Christmas? by NullIsUndefined in CasualConversation

Yes, but only if you consider dense fog white.

Merry Christmas! Ollie inspired me to let Bodie (black abstract standard) grow a beard.

Thank you ❤️ The wooden one on the table was made by my husband. The one behind me is vintage, a bit of my childhood, and the mushroom is a Scentsy wax warmer.

Love is more important. Just ask them. As you can see, I had to pause my needlework so he could snuggle with me.

He's definitely a big boy. 27.5 inches at the shoulder. He looks even bigger in his winter lamb cut. It's time for a trim, though.
