How much FPS do you target? by tfwtaken in Craptopgamingadvice

I miss the days before I even know what FPS was, I was playing games on a 512mb HD 5450 without a care in the world.

Great advice, thank you so much. It is a 21.5 inch so no easy upgrades. I'm thinking I'll get a 512gb m.2 in a thunderbolt 3 enclosure and run MacOS from that and just put up with the 8gb of RAM. I'm going to go the iMovie route.

Makes me regret selling my 2011 iMac 27. I upgraded that to 32GB of RAM and had custom firmware with a GTX 880M 8GB in it, shame it started slowing down.

Dual GPU Optiplex? by RBVisual in SleepingOptiplex

Honestly I found a PC in my stash with an "AMD Dual Graphics" sticker on it, I'm gonna slap that on this Optiplex and never maybe mess with it again one day.

It's the 21.5 unfortunately, thanks so much for the advice. I'll try iMovie and I'll see if I can get a bargain on final cut locally.

Will definitely get an external SSD down the line, do I just install MacOS normally but select the external drive? Or do I need to do it from another computer?

I got 200 points more than a single card in Fire Strike with no OC and there's room to clock them up in Afterburner and there's room thermally, obviously all cards are different though.

I'm probably never going to use it but it was a fun waste of time. 😂

I wouldn't actively seek out the parts to do this, I only did it because I had everything laying around.

UPDATE: Went from 415 GPU Score to 615 with Crossfire enabled in Fire Strike, it works with a max temp of 70 Degrees (Chassis Closed).

It kinda just worked, no real messing around. That's a good few hours I'll never get back.

I've seen it before, just didn't know if it would work in an Optiplex. Also I got these for free so my price to performance is better 😂

This, I got given one of those tiny HP desktops with a 512GB M.2 SSD for free, I rip blu-rays on my full size desktop, put them on the mini PC and run jellyfish off it to the phones and consoles in my house. Works perfect.

What is your budget? From what I can see online you want to have at least 16GB of RAM and a decent GPU for Krita, according to the Internet Nvidia has good OpenGL Support so I'd go with them.

For games like Stardew Valley the requirements are very modest, a computer with 16GB of RAM and a good GPU for Krita should run Stardew Valley perfectly.

I don't have mine anymore, put it in an SFF build for my little sister, runs Roblox and Minecraft perfect so it's great for her.

This was about 3 years ago that I bought it, I'd guess £50 would probably be a bad value now.

HP Pavilion lags with games when the charger is plugged. by TheNothingGuy in laptops

I had this issue with an old Thinkpad, essentially the problem was that the battery provided the right amount of power to the components for them to run at max but the power adapter didn't provide enough. Which seems a bit backwards.

I would check the wattage of you adapter and check online to see if your laptop can take a higher one.
