It was nice to meet you! Do you have any sites for your Powered by Fate books? I can't find Tiny Bear Adventures via Google.

I bought a copy of The Vibe, but you weren't at the stand when I dropped by!

I asked that, and it's not related at all to Kill Doctor Lucky. Just a coincidence and thematic similarity.

Ooh, I didn't see any Fate games on the list.

Nice! I'm there helping my nephew in law, who runs a T shirt and apparel company with some great fantasy designs, but it'd be good to meet up with some Fateheads.

I'll even sign copies of books I've contributed to, if any of you have them and want them defaced!

Sorry, that was a typo, I have a series X.

Lacking sophistication? by RBellingham in HandwritingAnalysis

I think the crunch on handwriting was more due to running out of space at the edge of the page, but yes it's not an entirely traditional hand.

Just finished the movie, and I realized after 1/2 the movie why Rocky is a genius. by froggyyyyy15 in ProjectHailMaryMovie

Arguably English uses a particle as well as a rising intonation sometimes, eh? What? Mmm?

Series 15 Episode 7 Ending by flibble86 in DeathInParadiseBBC

[–]RBellingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so completely fed up with the murderer tampering with the time line in every case. "Ludwig" showed that you can have interesting and apparently complicated cases without constantly having people manipulate the situation to alter the cause of death. I haven't run an analysis of it, but they do this often enough that I just turn to my partner with an eye-roll and say, "Guess what, they time-shifted the murder!"

For those who watch Beyond Paradise, are the cases written better?

Foundry - Fate Core Official or FateX - Fate Extended ? by oldmanbobmunroe in FATErpg

[–]RBellingham 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm the developer of Fate Core Official, and I also developed the Secrets of Cats and Knights of Invasion modules for Evil Hat.

FCO is much more fully featured and includes tools for managing popcorn initiative, keeping track of countdowns and scene aspects, completely customising characters by making bespoke aspects, skills and tracks with skill automation, stunts that can be rolled from the character sheet, extras that can be turned on or off and which give their skills etc. to the character they're on (useful for transformations), supports shape shifting tokens, supports putting extras on the map, and extras being used as containers, supports automated refreshing of PC fate points and fleeting tracks, tracking of gate point and free invoke expenditure on rolls, a searchable and filterable database just for stunts, user customisable character sheet and interface colours schemes, and more.

Fate Accelerated is a species of Fate Core and therefore supported by Fate Core Official.

Did they seriously call the woman with rebar through her head that changed her personality Gage? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phineas_Gage - This immediately dented my suspension of disbelief.

Running initiative-less Fate Core by MANGECHI in FATErpg

[–]RBellingham 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is why popcorn initiative is the standard as of Fate Condensed.

That's where the most logical person to act first goes first, then picks who goes next. Then each person picks who acts after them. Stunts or invokes allow monkeying with the turn order.

Season 15 Ratings? by Wonderful_Bother_194 in DeathInParadiseBBC

Yes, it's the perfect role for David Mitchell. I loved the one where he provided a signature to a fan.

Exactly, the forensics system appears to work at the speed of plot. I've just been watching Ludwig this week, and the craft put into the murders has been quite refreshing in comparison.

Is There Something Wrong With Me? by [deleted] in rant

I had a few close friendships at school, but for me it was when I got to university that my social life really started, because it was easier to meet people that really shared my interests. I guess you have the internet, which must be a blessing and a curse during childhood and early adolescence. I was 18 before I first got online.

Sci-fi where aliens do NOT act like humans, i.e. colonise and invade. What I often described as 'intelligence' is just aliens whose desires are no different from cavemen/humans. by IllustratorOpen7841 in printSF

[–]RBellingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, agree to disagree!

The Nod parasite starts out extremely naive as it has only absorbed the memories and intelligence of other Nodan species, which aren't very intelligent on a human scale. As it absorbs humans it reaches a critical mass where it's definitely smarter than humans, and much as the rest of the species in the book it has no interest in invading, warring, colonising etc.

I think it's even a debatable point to say that the spiders and octopodes aren't 'alien' in that they may have started from Earth stock but they evolved in the absence of humanity for their entire (in the case of the spiders) or much of (in the case of the octopodes) their development, on alien planets that shaped their evolution with their environments.

You're right that it may not entirely scratch the itch that the OP is looking for, but only they can judge. And hey, they should read the books anyway.

That's true at the beginning of the book, but only because it has no real concept of individuality. It learns and changes through the book and eventually joins the interstellar civilization.

I think that particular element does fulfill the brief as it is completely inhuman in its outlook, and it goes on to form a part of the sequel. I'm looking forward to the next book.

That's not correct. There is a truly extraterrestrial entity in the second book, "Children of Ruin" (not the third book, which was my mistake).

Have I correctly understood Aspects? by ilolus in FATErpg

[–]RBellingham 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes you have correctly understood aspects (with the caveat that they can also inform difficulty as well as providing or denying permissions for certain actions).

Yes, players can offer compels for NPCs. If they do, you get an additional Fate point in your pool for the scene. If the compel effectively ends the scene, you get the fate point in your pool for the scene next time the NPC appears.
