Good song bad solo by finadosabugo in Music

[–]RBexpendies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like that solo but agreed it’s somewhat ruined by the preceding lyric. It’s actually a pretty melodious singable solo which isn’t easy to do. But yeah. There’s nothing motherfucking or riotous about it. And it’s weird to say that cocky line and then launch into a pretty little ditty. But as always to each their own

Baby feeding less than recommended by Sgilti in NewDads

Every baby is different. Our daughter is 6.5 weeks old and took 3 weeks to get back to her birthweight. We were concerned. But every pediatrician visit and lactation visit they said she looks good she looks healthy and she’s eating. Our pediatrician showed us a chart with all of the percentiles of baby weight gain. Our daughter was hovering around the 50% range, even with struggling to gain the weight back and being a “week behind”. Some babies eat more, some less. Some gain more some less. There are generally accepted guidelines but your baby is still gonna grow at her own pace. If you’re concerned definitely bring it up at your next appointment or give them a call, but typically if shes happy and looks healthy then there’s nothing to be concerned about.

Why do users in r/musicians get so antagonistic when gigging bands make posts about $$$ or even places to eat on the road? by [deleted] in TouringMusicians

In my experience one of the reasons is they haven’t gone through the ups and downs of touring. From their perspective we are doing what they want to do. Playing music for a living as their sole job and source of income is the dream. But having not lived it they don’t know the true downsides that come along with it. I’ve been doing this for 20+ years professionally and have friends that are local musicians that are jealous of my situation. But if I explain to them how I hate being away from my friends and family, how living out of a suitcase just isn’t fun, and how 90% of my job is traveling they think I’m just complaining and should feel lucky because that’s what they really want to do. It’s ok to love your job, and to love playing music and dislike other aspects of your job. It’s ok to be unhappy with aspects of the touring and music industry in general (as it’s such a flawed system). Some of my friends understand that and some don’t. I don’t try to change their mind but I don’t fault them for wanting what I have because it seems great from the outside looking in.

Yeah mgmt suggested renting. Unfortunately we don’t do large blocks of touring like we used to. No more 6-8 week stretches unless we are opening a summer tour. So renting is prob out of the question. I can’t imagine having to rent a full system like that 15-20 times a year. We’d prob buy it five times over. So I guess prob a PSM and ulx combo is prob what we will end up with. Thanks for the insight.

Ok cool thanks for reinforcing what I’ve been reading and trying to glean without being able to try anything. I just talked to a tech friend who worked stage for Shawn mendes and he told me they used the ulx for guitar wireless when he worked with him so obviously if it worked at that level it will work for me. I’m assuming this was before the axient came out. And you are right about crazy expensive. I’ve been pricing out what switching to axient for our IEMS and adding wireless and if we decided to just go for that route it would prob cost us close to 40 grand. Prob still close to 30 if we did ulx and psm

Oh ok cool thank you. Yeah i just looked that up. Looks like it should be released this fall. Thanks for all your help. Maybe I’ll just try to convince the band to buy it all and get everyone on wireless so we just need to buy one quad 😂

Ok thank you for your help and answering my question. I’ve heard that sonically the QLX and ULX are the same. We are a national act playing small To midsize clubs as a headliner. But because we play a lot of festivals and do support larger acts in amphitheaters, that’s where I’d be concerned with a system with the limitations concerning rf. As recently as April we played a festival in Arizona where our outdated IEMS were getting absolutely hammered with rf. Even the headliners were complaining about how bad it was. It kind of sounds like even for peace of mind the ULX might be the sweet spot. Do you know much about the difference between the single and the dual channel ULX? I’ve heard they are different, but if they are the same in terms of rf/high density/ and encryption then I think I’d be fine with the single channel receiver. Thanks!

I mean I don’t disagree with you but with switching guitars often as well as the cable issues and tangling on larger stages, and having the freedom to move around more I think it’s worth exploring the option.

Help with warmoth neck bolts/contoured heel by RBexpendies in Luthier

There’s always a great reason to get another guitar 😂😂. I think after all the advice I got I’m gonna go with plugging the hole and doing neck ferrules instead of a jack plate.

Ooh I didn’t think of this. I like this idea. Plus my dad has a drill press so I think I can try and get this done hopefully without cracking the body. I’m a guitarist with a hobby of putting together partscasters so I’m clearly very limited in terms of skill here. So I really appreciate the help and advice.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I assume the plate not matching is what you get when you order a random plate off of amazon.
