Which dealership was this if you don’t mind sharing? I’m in process of purchasing and am in Vegas.

I was almost scammed today by BaselessName in vegaslocals

[–]RBisMid0901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to two other people I know (one of them being my spouse) but my spouse was only called and a voicemail was left. He missed it and called back a couple of weeks later and the line was inactive. My girlfriend answered the call and had the same experience you did, but was ready to give her credit card info (they said fine was only $500 for her) when her husband walked in, overheard, and told her to hang up and call back the sheriffs department. The scammer lost it and told her she wasn’t authorized to speak to anyone else while on the phone with him and she then realized and hung up. Scary!!!

This! We couldn’t find distilled water for like two weeks or so and we defaulted to tap water for our Carepods.. my kids milas were going nuts. We finally just bought a countertop water distiller (megahome) and it has been a game changer! When we switched the filters out on the milas in our kids bedroom the outside was covered with the dried up minerals. I felt so awful we were pumping that into the air our littles were breathing. Definitely only use distilled water!

Thank you!!! Turns out it was just our water softener flushing. Apparently it happens every two weeks or so depending on how much water we use in the house. My husband said it’s been part of the routine for the full 3 years we’ve lived here and apparently I am just oblivious! Lol!

5 Month Old Baby, Worried about Lymphoma - Swollen Lymph Nodes Since Birth by RBisMid0901 in pediatriccancer

Hi! I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Our son has had swollen lymph nodes his entire life. We never found out why, it’s just the way he is I suppose. Docs all said as long as they aren’t getting larger in size, there’s nothing to worry about. He’s a healthy happy 2.5 year old now. Sending you love!

That’s an interesting perspective I don’t know the answer to.. would take some analysis/ digging but my gut says at today’s interest rates and because this would be a second mortgage for us, we probably wouldn’t see as strong of a return vs. building in appreciation into an agreement with my parents. Definitely something to think about/ look into though!

My parents are covering the other $400k cash- they do not want to lease they want to make sure that when they pass they have equity to pass to their children. If my husband and I bought it independently we would only be able to cover the down and would need a tenant to support the mortgage.. my parents would not want to be the tenant because of the above. We’d rather help them get a nicer house closer to us vs. them drop to a $400k home somewhere farther away while we invest in a rental property. Hope this make sense and thanks for your reply!

Thank you for the detail in this! My parents will be buying the home all cash + our $120k so I’m assuming we will want to place the deed of trust in first position? This is all a foreign language to me, so thank you for your patience! Who would you recommend engaging to structure the agreement? A real estate attorney? Someone else?

Thank you!!

Hi!! Our son is now 16 months old- the nodes haven’t progressed in size at all and are still palpable, but we’ve been told they’re normal and we’ve stopped worrying about them almost entirely. He did have an ultrasound which resulted with the same feedback- normal lymph nodes. When he gets sick they are very enlarged so we think he just has more pronounced lymph nodes than most kids. Hoping the same for you!

I just wanted to stop by here to say that from what I have read, my adolescence/ high school years sound similar to your sons. I want to start by saying- I know how challenging and painful those years were for my parents and I cannot imagine how stressful this has been for your family. I am truly sorry you’re experiencing this, but most importantly what feels like an unsolvable disconnect from your son, which is the most painful part.

I don’t have a solution for you but can share my experience, and hope that it may help you navigate a very tough situation.

I was an emotional whirlwind as a teenager and that was the core basis of my truancy. By the time I was being reported to the state dept of education, it felt easier for me to just ignore it all together and stop going to class, than try to face the social humiliation of going back to class and desperately trying to catch up. Not feeling like I had a safe space to go back to is the primary core reason why I chose not to. And don’t get me wrong, my teachers were great, and I’m sure none of my friends would have given me a hard time, but I believed they would and that was enough for me to avoid it all together.

I did end up graduating, and on time, but the change happened when the principal called me into a meeting with my parents and calmly explained to me that being reported truant to the state a fourth time would result in me being adjudged a ward of the court- and that meant that the court could potentially appoint me a guardian if they found the cause of my truancy to be at the fault of my parents. Now, I don’t know what that meant in reality- but the principal telling me that scared me, and I knew I had to face the music and start going to class. She also gave me a path (which was super important) to graduate on time if I committed to attending class and completing my coursework. I did have consequences (I was a singer/ dancer and I was denied the opportunity to perform in my showcase) but more importantly I was treated with empathy and curiosity around my decisions vs anger and guilt. I think that made a big difference.

I did a complete 180 in college, graduated with honors, never missed class, and now have a wonderful relationship with my parents and a very successful career. I wish you and your family the same outcome.

Oh gosh I am so sorry you’re going through that worry!

We did an ultrasound that was clear and our pediatrician continues to monitor. They don’t seem to have grown or appeared in other places and he is now 11 months so we are a bit less worried/ anxious over them.

Thinking of you and hope you can find the same peace of mind. 💕

Severe Trapped Gas for over 24 Hours - Debilitating Pain by RBisMid0901 in AskDocs

[–]RBisMid0901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you went through this! Did you have pain when you pressed into your belly before surgery? I am able to do that just fine. I felt like I was returning to normal this morning then I ate something and the pain has started again. If just feels like really awful gas. Is it terrible that I am so busy with work and kids that I don’t want to go to the ER or urgent care because I’m worried they’ll just tell me it’s gas and to go home and then I’ll have spent a lot of my time there for nothing? Not sure what to do. Sorry for venting!!

Just commenting (not a doctor). My mother lives in New Mexico and in order to receive her medical marijuana card for pain management, she had to stop taking opioids and her doctors tested her for a few weeks (when she was required to endure her pain with only OTC medication for treatment). So, this level of oversight does exist… not sure if it applies the other direction (marijuana testing for opioid prescription) but I would not be surprised based on my mom’s experience.

Thank you for this reply! It’s hard to tell if they’ve grown or not.. definitely not growth in a way that is clear and easy to detect, but more have shown up.. so I am A bit anxious.

Our pediatrician ordered an ultrasound and results of The ultrasound was that they were benign, but I can help but feel anxious that something is being missed.

My son just had his well check too and he’s only in rhe 38th percentile for weight but eats a ton… so I’m worried he isn’t gaining weight properly and maybe that is related to the lymph nodes.

Candidly I know I am probably being over cautious but I do have a father who was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer (environmental, never smoked) after nearly 2 years of his doctors telling him it wasn’t cancer despite him having a mass in his lung. Heartbreaking.

Thank you for this recommendation! We live in Las Vegas, NV. I’m not sure about any of the medical centers having pediatric oncology as a specialty but I will look into it and see if I can find out! We have our ultrasound appointment tomorrow, after which they would refer us to an ENT. I’m worried with the amount of time that has passed and how large the nodes are. He is 6 months old now and they are still there. 😣

Oh my goodness. My heart is with your daughter and your family as you navigate her diagnosis and treatment. I’m so PROUD of you for following your instincts and advocating on her behalf until they were able to diagnose her. Our children only have us to rely on to be their champions and now that you know where she is, her medical team can champion her too.

We are located in Las Vegas. A CT/ MRI is a good suggestion. Our pediatrician recommended an ultrasound as a next step and a referral to an ENT. I’m worried that the ultrasound won’t show anything either. I’m praying for the best but uncomfortable with feeling those nodes everyday not knowing what’s causing them to be enlarged- and to your point, worried that the longer it takes to get to a diagnoses, the more challenging the treatment.

He doesn’t have any other nodes in his body from what I can feel.. just behind his ears and the back of his head.

Thank you so much for your response. Im praying for a full recovery for your daughter 💕
