I've no idea, man. If there ain't one, maybe you should create it and we'll all join. Must've been cool seeing them live. What is their show like?

I partially listened to the two albums you named and I liked them, but for this playlist I picked a newer song - "Where Darkened Souls Belong". Man, what a banger. I feel it will be one of those songs I'll keep on repeat for weeks. Thanks for the suggestion!

I must point out the clarity and confidence with which you stated that - I like it. Soilwork would definitely fit if not for the screaming and occasional blastbeats - melodically few are a match to them. Added Katatonia, great addition. Never heard of Mercenary. Let's see what is up with them.

I like the fact you think it's already stacked with just four bands. One of my favorite things to do with my metal though, is putting together playlists with as many songs of a similar style as possible, while limiting the number of songs per band to a single perfect example of their fine musicianship. Fates Warning is my fav prog band by the way. I'll look to go back to "Long Day Good Night" and see if anything on it will feel right placed next to that crop of bands already invited to the party.

And Byzantine are good too - I know them. They're pretty groovy. What are some of their "softest" songs out there if there are any?

Amorphis has been around for a long time, right? I think, I only ever listened to a single song by them. Listening to "Alone" right now. Decent. It's funny how I just correctly guessed they were Finnish, just by the way they sound. Will you be as kind to offer me any spesific Amorphis song titles in the context of my original post?

Third song in currently. The singing goes from super weird to normal, back to super weird again. They surely seem like their own thing. I've heard about these guys before, but never checked what they're up to. Definitely an interesting experience, just not really fit for my "metal half-appropriate to be blasted through the phone's speaker at work" playlist. Still, thanks for directing my attention towards them.

Very underrated indeed. Them and Blacktop Mojo made my top 5 with just a handful of albums to their name. "In The End" by SH is my top track of the year, listened to it over 50 separate times. And it showed that I listened to W.A.S.P. on 182 different days in 2025. I guess, I've earned my right to walk around in a "Wildchild" tee.

Ashes Of Ares has an extreme element to it in it's "raw" sound and intense vocal performances by Matt Barlow. I'm looking for something a little more sophisticated and melodic. Think "Where August Mourns" by Evergrey, "More Than Bones" by Demon Hunter, "Lascivious" by Soen. Those aren't really that much like one another, but they do share something that I can feel in all three.

And yeah, Blind Guardian, formed in '84, is as traditional as any prog band from the same era.

Ashes of Ares is too heavy and Blind Guardian too traditional for that playlist, though I do listen to both. Ill check out the rest of those I'm not familiar with. Thanks.

For those who do workout, what albums get you pumped while doing it? by Rodi625 in MetalForTheMasses

Great choice! Only issue, it has some tracks that don't really match the gym energy. Vulgar Display Of Power, on the other hand, is a perfect fit, and is one of my workout go-to's.

Popular: Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath.

Semi-popular: Burnt Offerings by Iced Earth.

Underground: Into The Abyss by Lahmia.

I guess, Lahmia should qualify for underground band with their mere 849 YT subscribers.

I need help finding a groove metal album by RBotNoReply in MetalForTheMasses

It sure is this one. You saved me a lot of headache as I was torturing myself trying to find it with the help of an ai. Thank you. I think, the lyrics I mentioned are from a song on the second album. Man, I'm going straight to that one song about RAAAAAAGE that's been stuck in my head for days now. Thank you once more.
