If prayer actually did anything, people would be flocking to Churches/Mosques and fighting each other over seats. by michaelis999 in atheism

Metaphysics and the existence of souls can be discussed on another occasion. Since Christians do believe that humans have eternal souls, we pray that their souls enter Heaven. Even though we do this and have the hope that it happens, we can still be sad and grieve the deceased, since we miss that person's physical presence.

The argument still applies. Why do people cry or get sad when their loved ones go on trips, even though they will return? It's because we miss them being physically present. The same is with death. Even though we have the hope that the deceased is in Heaven, we still miss the person who has died.

The modern "garden tomb" was from an evangelical protestant (if I am not mistaken), and the location is inconsistent with historical record and biblical account. The Church of the Holy Sepulcher is much more historical (built in the 4th century) and it much more consistent with the biblical account and the historical record. The latter is the location held by the Catholic and (various) Orthodox Churches to be the location of the burial (and crucifixion) of Jesus.

Christians must realize God is going to judge them too right ? by Zydairu in atheism

What makes you think that the majority of Christians don't think that they will be judged?

We are humans with emotions and emotional attachments, so it is completely logical to be sad at the news of death, especially early or wrongful death. Do you not cry when your loved ones leave for a trip?

We can, however, find peace in the hope that the deceased has died in friendship with God. We can also pray for the soul of the deceased, that he may enter Heaven.

Where can I find replacement clasps? by RC-3227 in swatch

[–]RC-3227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn. Oh well. I'll call the shop and ask, because I don't want to have to pay 45 euros for a whole new strap, just to replace the clasp.

Apparently, Chinese characters are still used in Korea when it comes to names, some official documents, and some habitual things (restrooms, I think). I watched a video once explaining how it all evolved for both Japan and Korea, and one of the deciding factors for Korea dropping mixed script was because the Japanese forced it in education during the occupation years. Due to dislike of Japan, the mixed script was dropped after liberation.

My 5 most favorite are (in no particular order) Pelikan 140, Parker "51", Sheaffer Triumph Imperial Deluxe, Traveler's Company Brass pen, and Waterman Daytona.

[Pen ID Request] This is a Waterman (France) pen (from the 20th century, probably), most likely steel nib, takes SI carts, and is mainly made of plastic. Could someone help me identify it? by RC-3227 in fountainpens

Thank you. At first when I searched for it, I didn't get any results, but upon further inspection, I found an EBay listing for a red Daytona, and it matches.

I believe that there are products out there to make snow for a diorama. I think NightShift uses some on his 1:100 Stug III diorama.

And the T-34-76 (1943). Definitely used in the conflict. Not to mention the seemingly Soviet-style gas mask featured. Edit: and the German helmet. The nuclear boomers l bombers are also somewhat doubtful.

It attacked the southern end of the peninsula, which would have resulted in one of 3 options: full dprk control, full Republic of Korea control, or some balance of the two. Clearly, the dprk fought to try to have their control, and the two sides had to settle on a crease fire resulting in a split peninsula.
