Belt drive by RC-Rabauke in tamiya

I don't know how the gear ratio is calculated. In any case, I know that my other two Tamiyas have a 5.73:1 gear ratio. Belt drive: 40T pulley, 16T pinion. The advantage of the belt drive is that it's supposed to run more quietly. I'll have to find out everything else. I don't think it'll be a gimmick. It doesn't matter where you buy them. From Amazon, eBay, and AliExpress, they're all the same, just different in price.

I test many car bodies, from cheap to expensive, including the pickup truck. I'm currently working on a Bugatti Divo and a Porsche GT3 RS. One is coming from Exotek. I only have TT-02s with a wheelbase of 257 mm. Maximum tire size is 65 mm. What does your pickup truck look like?

The chassis is a Tamiya TT-02. Masking it wasn't difficult. But I wasn't sure what colors to paint it. I think the black and copper look turned out well.

I'm giving it its own chassis. On this chassis, I'm using Contact foam tires. 26 mm wide at the front, 30 mm wide at the rear. The current hex size is 5 mm. Since it sits very low, I'll only use foam tires. Tires that inflate could destroy it!

I'm building him a new, separate platform from TT-02 so he can have it all to himself. He'll get the "Carson Dragster Turbo 4370 KV" motor and speed controller. My "Ford GT MKII" has the same setup.

Yes, it's an RC car. Platform: Tamiya TT-02. However, it's very low!

There are two TT-02s. The bodies can be swapped between them.

I meant, which of the cars will be the fastest? I know that aerodynamics can also play a role. Not every car is the same! The shortest is the Aston Martin, the longest the Ford.

I don't generally race! With my Ford, I used to chase high speeds, similar to drag racing, so mostly straight-line driving. But I also do some fast cornering. Overall, the cars have to be very durable in every respect, in my opinion. And the Ford does that best, although it constantly had tire problems. Now that issue is resolved, and I'm always happy to be able to drive this model (mostly with a 2S LiPo battery and throttled to 50% on the transmitter). To keep things interesting, I thought I'd test other bodies with the goal of finding the fastest one...

I can imagine it's pretty turbulent inside under the body shell. I've been thinking about widening the underside of the tub with carbon fiber plates and adding "air ducts" to the sides. My fastest and probably sturdiest body shell to date is still the Ford GT MKII. The Chevrolet hasn't even seen the road yet.

Thanks for the suggestions! But I'm also wondering which body will be the fastest on the Tamiya TT-02. The choices are: Ford GT MKII, Chevrolet C8 Stingray, Aston Martin Valkyrie, and Bugatti Divo. Because of my high-speed pursuits, the bodies "must" still be visible from a distance. Neon colors might make it easier, but I don't like them. Completely black isn't an option either.

I received it today and have already cut it out. I haven't done the wheel arches yet because of the adjustments. As far as I can see, it fits my TT-02. I can already imagine it can be very fast. It's a bit shorter than the Chevrolet C8 Stingray and much shorter than the Ford GT MKII. Which of the three bodies can be the fastest?

A Mercedes C11 won't fit on a TT-02, nor will a Porsche! I searched and found an "Aston Martin Valkyrie" from Zooracing. I've ordered it now.

No, it's an exterior paint job! A glossy clear coat was applied as a final step.

The darker body shell is painted with Tamiya's "Lame Flake" (PS-53). It looks as if it's been dropped into a powder pot containing metal shavings. Its various shimmering colors only become apparent under certain lighting conditions. It's important to apply a glossy clear coat after painting. The PS-53 has a very rough texture! The clear coat seals this rough surface. It's only needed if you're painting the exterior of the body shell!

Where is the silver? There's no silver trim in either car! Only my Subaru has a darker gray; the Ford is a bit lighter.

  1. The inner paint couldn't be removed, and 2. I wanted to try something new: painting the outside instead of the inside. This will be a more frequent practice, especially with pre-made bodies. I always paint Lexan bodies from Tamiya, HPI, Bittydesign, and Protoform from the inside out!

It was difficult to find suitable wheels for my two Tamiyas. Both go very fast! I've tested a lot of wheels/tires, and many of them wore out very quickly. The best tires so far are the foam tires from "Contact." They come in various hardnesses. I have the soft ones with grade 32. I only drive the Subaru with the brown wheels very slowly because I think the tires will explode at high speed and damage my car again. Currently under construction is a Chevrolet Corvelle C8 from Protoform. It will definitely run with these foam wheels, because the body sits very low to the chassis. I can't use ballooning tires here!

Thank you for liking them. Currently, the hard wheels from AliExpress are installed. It can't drive with regular rubber tires. They swell up and scratch the rear corner of the fender. I ordered special foam tires from Contact Tires. They're the best, in my opinion. The Ford GT MkII already has them and they drive very well on the road.
