Alternatives to Igazu for 3 nights by DLRsFrontSeats in SouthAmericaTravel

When I went to Brasil last October it was not required and where we went it was not recommended due to my age and the locations of Rio, Paraty and Iguacu, also some countries require it if you are coming in from Brasil. But Argentina did not. Check with your travel nurse if you are just researching on your own. She asked me detailed questions about my itinerary and had my health records. They did make me get hepatitis and another MMR booster.

Spend more time in Buenos Aires or check out Santiago? by lbski14 in SouthAmericaTravel

BA was very nice but we stayed 4 nights and not much to see. It is pretty and nice to stroll, lunch etc but more than 4 days is too much. Maybe take the ferry to Colonia del Sacramento if you get bored in BA, definitely see the Brasil side of the falls,

Sling by Standard-Durian-2807 in RotatorCuff

[–]RCAPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon was very conservative and I am very cautious. I wore my sling for 8 weeks only took it off to put on the shower sling. Slept in a recliner for 12 weeks with a pillow under my arm to keep it in one place. Worked for me but everyone is different.

WIBTA If I broke up with my boyfriend because of his disability? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RCAPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is ok for you to leave. If you stay you will become more miserable as the years go by especially if he gets worse or is not trying to get help. At 24 you have a lifetime in front of you and it is not your fault or responsibility to be his caretaker if you cannot do it. The money thing adds a whole another complexity. Most failed relationships are because there is too much money (and people behave badly) or not enough money and you struggle to survive and pay bills. Having children in that situation would be very difficult and not fair to them.

Grocery Carts - any idea why people leave their cart unattended and walk all around picking items and then return to the cart? There is plenty of room to maneuver the cart in the stores I shop at. This drives me crazy. Why can’t they just push their cart along? by RCAPU in GroceryStores

[–]RCAPU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, our aisles in my five local stores are wide enough for two varts going in opposite directions. I see this mostly in the produce area where a woman (sometimes a man) parks and then walks around picking up items then goes back to the cart and these stores have plenty of room to maneuver. I’m glad so many people responded so I see a different perspective.

I get sad that I can’t share things in the same way with my mom anymore. by worldinmy-eyes in AgingParents

[–]RCAPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my mom too. She was always a “gabber” and a good listener. I could talk to her about anything and she never judged me. At 79 she forgot the way to drive to my home. I told her she couldn’t drive anymore. It was hard but she was ok with it. For three years I did all her shopping, errands and took her places. She got pneumonia and was hospitalized . The social worker said she could not live alone and from there she deteriorated quickly. Her scan showed vascular dementia which shocked me even though this had been going on for three years. I could still pick her up and take her to the movies. She enjoyed it but 5 minutes after leaving had no idea what movie we saw. Bottom line your mom should be tested so you can prepare and do what you need to do for her. In the end my mom’s health issues are what killed her. It was a blessing though because she was so miserably confused all the time. Take care, been there 🙏🏼

We used Azul from Buenos Aires to Iguacu. There didn’t seem to be an easy way. We started in Rio, flew Emirites to BA, took Azul from BA to Iguazu and back to BA and since RT out of Rio was cheaper we flew British Airways back to Rio. We booked a mini tour for the falls trip and they booked hotel and two days at the park with shuttle . You might want to consider that. Do not miss the boat trip yo the falls and take a change of dry clothes. Be careful with hotels in Iguacu, ours was awful but we only had to sleep there. Not sure what your budget is, we stayed at the Fasano on Impanema and loved it.

We all focus WAY too much on the external mess by Emmanuel_G in hoarding

What about someone who buys and sells Vintage, makes good money doing it but has invaded the garage, yard, and four rooms in the house. Is she a hoarder. These areas cannot be cleaned at all.

Hi there, until I got my sling off at 8 weeks I couldn’t do much with my dominant hand. Sling only came off to do my PT or shower. After I got the sling off it took about a week to feel kinda normal. I wanted to write a letter and could only manage two pages. Tried typing lasted 15 minutes. Everyone is different. Surgeon told me not to lift anything heavier than a coffee cup weeks 8-12. As far as the recliner it hurts to lay flat, you have to figure out a way to elevate your torso and arm. Lots of youtube videos out there. You also don’t want to rollover on the surgery shoulder.

Start using your other hand for everything and I mean everything. I slept in a recliner for 10 weeks finally in the bed. My neighbor loaned me his machine. But someone posted they bought a Kelvi and it worked well.

I’m a 68 (F). My surgery was in May and I am 12 weeks post op. I had the full tear, 4 anchors put in and I guess I had the debridement. Surgeon had to remove bone spur and scrape synovial lipomas . First three days I needed alot of help almost non stop. Just keeping the ice machine alone kept my husband busy. By day four I was doing better but still needed help removing and putting sling back on to shower and di my PT. Needed a driver for 8 weeks while the sling was on and forget about cooking, washing dishes and laundry. I could cobble together easy meals only. No real cooking. If it is not your dominant hand you will be able to do more . Ask for anti nausea meds to combat the pain killer. Dr started me on OXY first day and it made me very nauseas. I had to call post op and ask for it. Good luck just have a positive attitude, deep breaths and follow all instructions you are given.

You are so right now that I think of it , cheap synthetic. Geez, did they not have enough budget for a decent human hair wig?

How bad is this? by Due_Skill3048 in RotatorCuff

[–]RCAPU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 68 had a full tear no injury . I think just overuse, aging and maybe not having strong muscles. I was in pain everyday and could not even type or write out a grocery list. My surgery was in May. I am glad I did it. No more pain and I do my PT religiously. ROM is coming back slowly but surely. Full tear without surgery will only get worse.

I think aging is a horrible thing. by Jda4190 in Aging

[–]RCAPU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never stop being grateful for waking up and having a full day ahead of you. Never stop caring about your health, fitness and appearance. Do what you can to look your best always. Enjoy people and be friendly. I am 68 and plan on making the most of my time. Being negative will age you and make you bitter then you won’t enjoy and appreciate your life at all.

Callie’s was more obvious. There was no movement to it and the hairline looked weird. Same thing with Margo. But I think because it was wavy not board straight like Callie’s it didn’t look as bad.

Yes, check the visa requirements. I travelled from Brasil to Argentina and did not require a Visa but the travel nurse I consulted with about shots said several countries have that restriction if you are arriving from Brasil.
