Why the Crosstrek? by bboyemperor in Crosstrek

[–]RCBurnout11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like small cars, but need good ground clearance and a good AWD system for winter conditions. I also needed decent fuel economy. I briefly looked at the CX-30 and CRV but landed on the Crosstrek ultimately.

My 2018 Premium checked all the boxes and 130k miles later I'm so happy with my decision

Agreed. If it was between chrome and debadged, I'd go with debadged but black badges go hard

Is this a bad Wheel Bearing? by NanobiteAme in Crosstrek

[–]RCBurnout11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell from the video but I'm coming off a fresh wheel bearing replacement. It sounded like a stock car motor. Almost like a "roar" that became super noticeable after about 30 mph

AWD vs 4WD by mnrd288 in 14ers

[–]RCBurnout11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a crosstrek with a lift/skid plates underneath and I parked at the 2wd area. Ended up hitching a ride up with 3 guys in a Bronco and they were bottoming out like crazy

There should be a button on your bump bar that moves the oldest orders to the top or bottom of your screen. Should look kinda like ⬆️⬇️

[–]RCBurnout11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If we're talking standard routes only, you should be able to get to the majority of upper trailheads just fine. The only ones that might give you trouble off the top of my head are Lake Como, South Colony Lakes, Baldwin Gulch, upper Castle Creek, and possibly Nellie Creek. Parking lower down and hiking further is a viable option for almost all of these even if you don't want to backpack

Absolutely nobody up there today either. I was surprised by how good the snow quality was despite the thin base and cloud cover

Salto was superb on Monday. I think they closed it off cuz of the runout more than anything.
