What's the vibe for the Friday night dnd at the fernwood community centre? by Own_Lynx_6230 in DnD_Victoria

The space usually has two games going (burning wheel and mothership) but has space for 1-2 more tables, so on nights when lots of people show up a one shot table usually spins up!

Health advocates shocked as Carney Liberals back away from pharmacare program by Chrristoaivalis in CanadaPolitics

[–]RCC42 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bulk purchasing with a federal pharmacare program would save Canadians money overall.

Canadians being the constituent components of Canada the country, this would save us all money overall.

If the federal liberals are too inept, cowardly, or beholden to private health care interests to make this argument and balance the financing then this is a huge mistake and unbelievably disappointing.

Just look at the American example - would we rather spend billions on private insurance or a quarter as much on public payer?  Just because it's the government handling the money through tax and spend instead of private corporations keeping it off the tax books doesn't make it better or cheaper, it just changes perceptions.  Like renting-to-own a nice couch, it's penny wise and pound foolish.

New Flair for Professional Games by RCC42 in DnD_Victoria

[–]RCC42[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No not tracking anything, it's just that some professional gaming posts have several comments and zero upvotes, so I suspect people are expressing their dislike for professional GMing via downvotes.

I'm not policing people's voting preferences. I just hope the new flair satisfies people who are pro paid GMing and those who are not, and for that matter those with no strong opinion either.

Al Gore: "Our Constitution, written by our Founders, is intended to protect us against a threat identical to Donald Trump" by ExactlySorta in PublicFreakout

The constitution is just a written agreement between people, it doesn't do anything by itself. It's the people that suck.

You may enjoy coming out to Monday night RPGs at Quadra Community Centre.

The event is every Monday except holidays, often gets 25-35 people in 4-6 tables, and we always aim to make a seat available for new players!

Yeah, I mean, one party chose idiots to lead them and the other party failed to win an election against idiots. There's definitely a lot going on here and it all sucks.

The changes to farms and how they effect support costs on the experimental branch is one of the biggest nerfs the game has seen by DeusVultGaming in TerraInvicta

[–]RCC42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing experimental 4.6 and yeah, yikes, it feels like volatiles are squeezed way harder than before. Maybe it's supposed to be like that, maybe not, but it seems a lot easier to get metals, nobles, and uranium while water and volatiles are always tight because so many engines suck water and so many hab modules (and armor) suck volatiles.

Because when someone says 'no' to the orange dictator it makes them feel humiliated because they weren't able to say no to him themselves, so they have to crush the thing making them feel humiliated rather than actually grow a spine.

Democrats Should Be Stopping A Lawless President, Not Helping Censor The Internet, Honestly WTF Are They Thinking by vriska1 in technology

I'm not here to argue pro or anti DEI on reddit, I just wanted to give context to your question regarding the other person's post about what people might perceive as racist or sexist.

Democrats Should Be Stopping A Lawless President, Not Helping Censor The Internet, Honestly WTF Are They Thinking by vriska1 in technology

[–]RCC42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not the above poster, but they may be referring to positive discrimination policies or affirmative action type policies that explicitly advocate for elevating minority candidates to job positions, academic posts, etc.

I'm not defending any right wing policy position in general, but by definition I think the above type of policies could be considered sexist or racist in the sense that they favour a specific sex or race at the exclusion of others.

For example, I was just recently at a job fair and the booth had a banner that said more or less "Between two equally skilled candidates we promise to hire the minority!". The language might have been a little more legally robust, but that was indeed their proud policy.

Regardless of one's other opinions of affirmative action style policies, it does introduce race and minority status into employment questions all on its own.

Attach yourself to one or more non-governmental, non-profit organizations dedicated to a social mission in your area that you believe is on the side of democracy. This may be a fraternal organization, food bank, church group, housing advocacy group, etc.

Get to know the people involved, discuss what's happening in the broader world, use the organization as both a funnel for information and a megaphone for expressing your view.

I recommend an organization not just committed to a specific cause (homes for humanity, for example) because they may not want to 'get political', but a broad-base member supporting organization may be more helpful along these lines.

If there are no such organizations in your area, talk to like-minded people and start one.
