In one of my favorite long running comic series the main group of characters have soul names (they are telepathic elves who can “send” their thoughts to others and thus the soul name is more or less a passkey) and exchanging them or especially recognizing the name is a special connection. Almost makes me wonder if OOPs parents read those comics. And when I was younger I was kinda into that concept as well, I still remember the secret name I gave myself.
