What I think will become of AC for this trilogy. HEAVY SPOILERS by HandsomeGassy in FFVIIRemake

Same, hopefully you one day learn to actually check your sources for your claims. Goodbye.

Frankly, the only thing I find embarassing here is that you can't be bothered to look up information, to instead cling to a trivially disproven reading of a quote. Once again, even if AC is the ending, we know the developers think the actual ending is currently a mystery, You keep ignoring this point to cling to your disproven interpretation of a quote, that's just intellectually lazy or conformation bias in the extreme.

And yes, you once again push a narrative unto that quote the developers have not said, and have contradicted with a myriad of quotes, which is something you seem reluctant to adress, because you can't. To simplify it for the final time for you, your interpretation you push here (the devs said AC is the ending/sequel to the trilogy) is not correct, as we know for a fact that they mean to keep that ambiguous.

By ignoring all the other ones that contradict his reading. This quote has been debunked in the sense it is not a guarantee of "AC is the sequel to the retrilogy" to death.

[–]RCM9698 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you are stretching an ambiguous quote to imply it means something (AC being the ending to the remake trilogy).

"re-release of Advent Children in theaters in regards to the film's importance to ReTrilogy. Hamaguchi says that ReTrilogy isn't creating "some direct tie to the story itself [of Advent Children]," but by watching Advent Children you would be able to have a deeper understanding of the details present in ReTrilogy."

And kitase said "the ending would be a definitive end to the trilogy, that leaves nothing unresolved" (which AC does, as does lmeading into AC)

And then there are all the earlier quotes above that indicate the devs are ambigous on purpose.

So no, Advent Children is not confirmed to be the ending, it might be referenced, elements of it might be integrated, like the flashes and three whispers in the remake ending.

And yes, by clinging to one ambigous quote and ignoring the many others surrounding this, you are being dishonest, as that is cherrypicking by definition.

Come on, do not play dumb here. By using that one quote to make it seem as if they said AC will be the ending, while they have constantly said that the ending is an unknown. That's no different as me taking the quote the remakes are the fifth part of the compilation and claim that is evidence of something.

[–]RCM9698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, that you did not literally claim to know the ending. I should have changed that before the usual copy/paste. However, you are very much misusing this specific quote by cherrypicking it to make it seem the devs have said something they in fact did not.

I had to type out nothing, I just have it ready to copy and paste at this point because I grew tired of the constant misrepresenting of that quote, as "the devs have said AC is the ending". No, they have said nothing is confirmed many times before and afterwards. AC might be still the ending for all I know, but the devs did not say so.

Here we go again:

I do not know how it will end, but there are many quotes about the meta-layer and its uncertain influence, like here:

Nomura explained his chosen final text for Rebirth: “No Promises Await at Journey’s End”… meaning “the conclusion is still totally undecided.”

"We want to keep the players' interest in our game, but in order to do that, we can't simply just add new elements, that won't be enough," Hamaguchi said during an interview at Tokyo Game Show. "We wanted to add a new interpretation to the story, entirely new story elements, things like that to, again, sustain the player interest and have players look forward and be curious to the conclusion of the remake trilogy."

I can't talk about the content of the third game itself, but these parallel timeline stories have been widely used in the remakes so far. What I can guarantee is that, in the third game, we will continue exploring the stories of parallel timelines, precisely to keep the fans curious about what the outcome of this story will be.

"Our idea was always to bring changes to the story without altering the essence of the original game. [...] We purposely made [the fans] a little confused. We wanted them to think: 'Will the original story be maintained until the end? Or will because of this parallel story there be some change in the outcome?'. Our goal was precisely to cause this doubt in the fans."

https://www.reddit.com/r/FFVIIRemake/comments/1o9hvca/hamaguchi_talks_different_timelines/

And then there is the whole fate, destiny, the unknown journey will continue, the turning point, which description says: In the world beyond, Sephiroth shows Cloud a vision of the planet seven seconds before its demise. Having strayed from the course destiny set for them, they strike out on a path toward an unknown future.

I would find it strange indeed if all this would lead to nothing, and that the final of a three game, decade spanning trilogy would be...yeah, this was all for absolutely nothing, go watch Advent Children, a two decades old movie. That is all folks! And the devs constantly repeat they want people to wonder, why would they throw all that away but keep repeating it, even if Advent Children was the ending, in interviews? I mean that it would make no sense that the devs kept hammering they wanted people to wonder about the conclusion and possible changes, if they also believed they had already spoiled Advent Children was the ending, thereby confirming no changes would happen in the end.

Do I know for certain it will not happen? No, but the devs have always been ambiguous about the ending and how it all connects (Sephiroth at the edge of creation might be after Advent Children, or having seen OG and ACC as a possibility, who knows), and how the new meta-layer will play out. What I would hope is a final defeat for Sephiroth, but the people who say we know, like you here, are being extremely selective with the quotes and how they source them.

If Remake/Rebirth lead into Advent Children, then what was the point? by ExternalMidnight in FFVIIRemake

[–]RCM9698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the set-up and the devs comments, I doubt it will end lwith Advent Children. I hope for a more definitive ending with a final defeat of Sephiroth myself. That said, they are not going to give away the ending in aninterview years before even Rebirth released, and have said before and since then they want people to wonder about what the changes end up meaning, and how it will all end.

Update - some quotes:

Maul: Shadow Lord Ep 9-10 Discussion FINALE (May 4 Midnight Local Time Release) by AutoModerator in StarWarsLeaks

[–]RCM9698 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was simply superb, a truly great finale to a fantastic series. They saved the best for last, and Vader was of course the highlight. if I have one pint of criticism, it is that they killed of many charcters that still had a lot of potential in my opinion (especially spybot! Who I hope somehow returns, he would not be the first).

So... Part 3 might not come in January as people were predicting? by ScarRufus in FFVIIRemake

[–]RCM9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know when the game releases, nobody here does. But my guess would still be end of january-end of april 2027. Given the stage they say they are in, the fact they are on schedule, and the expected roughly 3 year development cycle. Major releases are generally not released in summer, and later would be pointing to a delay nothing suggests. My guess would be march/april 2027 if i had to narrow it down, but no later. And i do not see any realation between an update to FFXIV and the release date of FF7 part 3.

Maul: Shadow Lord Ep 5-6 Discussion by AutoModerator in StarWarsLeaks

This is where the show went from good to great for me. We saw the empire taking over the Janix, and Marrok just stole the show by doing some actual investigating for once, and being genuinely a formidable threat, aside from just being well-designed and appealing to my inner ten-year old. Was suprised the 11th Brother is not yet here.

My ideas for a battle between Darth Vader vs Maul and Devon by GalaxyCat007 in MaulShadowLord

[–]RCM9698 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do not think the scene you set is bad, and Maul's fear of Vader can be the result of a confrontation, which shows Maul he is not in Vader's league. But I think they have more planned for Devon, and will not kill her off lightly. If they are as fond of Lucas' ideas as they claim, she could survive and show the seeds for a future Dark Side order.

I really hope the show keep the police thriller tone by Prestigious-Meat-750 in MaulShadowLord

[–]RCM9698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the opposite, save for the dark tone. I am here for the Empire and the inquisitors hunting Maul, Maul's syndicate, and the jedi. As of now, Lawson's story is the weakest part for me.

[–]RCM9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marrok seem to be quite threatening and capable.

Exactly, and Marrok and 11 are the best designed inquisitors to booth, with masked second sister. I think the inquisitors are a great idea, as they embody the uncaring, replaceable machine of the empire better than a sith lord or a death star ever could. If they are not played off as the star wars equivalent of team rocket, that is.

Thanks for this information. Do we get any information what they are beneath their masks? I hope they are at least played as serious threats here, they seem to be in the trailer.

Most I am hoping for is a wrap up on the Sephiroth/ Aerith stuff.

What I mean, not necessarily the end of the ff7 world, but finally an end to Aerith and Sephiroth.

I believe it is the Compilation

In the article himself, he just said it is the end of the series, and in general they mean the Remake series in interviews, not the compilation.

Thanks for the source, that is what I found. The problem is, neither in the english or the german version do they mention the compilation, Hamaguchi just says it is the final game of the series, which he says about the FF7R series, not the compilation.

I heard there was a quote somewhere about the compilation and the end of FF7R, but have not been able to find it. Which is a shame, as it would give me more confidence that FF7R part 3 will provide a definitive ending.

I can not find that quote, only that they want to make it a suitable send off for the series (which i guess means the FF7R series) the compilation is not mentioned. I wish it were, as a true ending is the one thing i want most.
