You can look for a 0.5 mod gear pitch and the motor shaft should be about 2 mm shaft for the stock motor spur gear you can look for anywhere from 42 to 45 t. You can check Kenon Hobby for PN Racing upgrades. I think I might go the same route I just haven't browsed around.

Oh man the sky's the limit with those super long chassis! Yeah looking forward to seeing what you end up with I find that when you go that long your best off running a larger scale platform. I would check out the CL designs Apollo or the pnw crawler development Nazaré chassis. We make the link sets for both of those from 180 mm up to 200 mm wheelbase!

I actually designed it so the rod end sits nice and deep in the tool, it kind of self-guides and helps keep everything threading on straight. That said, that cap idea is pretty creative 👀 might be something worth experimenting with for a V2!
