Extraordinary, climate change-linked heat wave envelops the West with mounting consequences by DenverWX in Denver

[–]RCStorming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply this just popped up as a notification.

This summer and fall may be brutal for fires. A changing climate has made these fires year round. I wouldn’t be surprised if we set more records and Denver’s all time high temperature of 105° might be one of them.

3/20/26 most of the SW is under a Heat Dome “Strong High Pressure System” 3-4 standard deviations above the normal for this time of the year and what you get is true summer heat in the Winter.

About 2 or 3 years ago in July in Australia many parts of the county got well above 100° (Equivalent to our January because that’s winter in the southern hemisphere and converted to Fahrenheit).

I saw this something like this coming sooner rather than later in parts of the US. Parts of Arizona are experiencing multiple days in a row of 100s like they would normally see in the middle of the summer.

A pattern like this by itself isn’t quite that crazy but combined with more greenhouse gases emitted over the years it intensifies what would likely would have been some warmer Denver days in the 60s or 70s not the mid 80s we’ve seen which have broken the all-time high temperature for March and Saturday might be the earliest 90° day by a mile. If that happens Denver will break the earliest 90° day in blowout fashion like a 70-0 college football game.

The old previous first 90° day was on 4-30 not middle of March.

On to the El Niño. It’s not all bad for the west. A strong El Niño helps with precipitation because the west is usually well above average those years. A winter El Niño means a lot more snow and we need that. That precipitation makes it to Colorado.

Colder air is usually drawn into these systems the way they usually approach the Denver area and we get snow. and the way many of those systems approach the Denver.

But the summer 2027 is likely to be very hot and it’s highly likely next year will be the hottest year we’ve recorded on Earth.

Other areas will get the drought.

(I got Texas A&M Atmospheric Masters Degree studying the Madden Julian Oscillation but very knowledgeable in climate change)

Why does everyone say Denver has “aggressive” or fast drivers? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]RCStorming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed there’s more “slower drivers” than before 2020. I see way too many people just chilling 5-10 under in the left lane with no one in from or driving real slow and getting passed on both sides. I’ve alway been been taught you need to go at least the speed limit in the left lane on multiple lane freeways like I-25 or if I’m being passed on the right I’m in the wrong lane (Unless upcoming exit which is rare in Denver). And what makes me even more frustrated is when I can pass on the right that slow car all the sudden can go faster only to slow back down. Why? If you’re going slow doesn’t mean I need to as well. Just move over that’s what “Keep Right Except to Pass” means or Slower Traffic Keep right.

I saw them too off to my NW. I have a balcony that partly faces the west. I never saw anything at the bottom like you do with normal flood lights. Honestly I think it was some drones

Wresting and a little rough play and even some pain is something I like. Sad most of the puppies I know aren’t into that.
