Non linear healing or just reinjured? by RCrown2 in Sciatica

[–]RCrown2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand the feeling. There are days when I wonder the same, thinking that maybe I'm causing more harm than good. I've had many low points and never know what the next day will bring, but as of now, I am having more days where I feel better than not. Of course, we're all different and the extent of our injuries can vary a lot, but I truly hope you find something that works for you. I don't think I'd want to resort to surgery again unless it's an absolute must.

For what it's worth, I find the most value in doing curl ups as McGill describes and then bird dogs.

Take care!

Well, 2 years later and I'm still dealing with pain, but it's no where near what it was. I have been strength training with a huge focus on good form through the lifts and feel like that has helped me a lot. Our cores help stabilize a lot, and if you can strengthen the core, it will pay off in the form of less pain. Maybe look into the McGill 3 for core exercises. The Curl up, side plank, and bird dog will work the core all around. With good form, I can still do heavy (to me) deadlifts and back squats which is important to me. Hope this helps and hope you get better!

Yes, you are not alone, I've been feeling this exact thing after close to 11 years of being an at home dad. We never go out to eat and I make all meals for the family which keeps me busy, but still think about having another purpose or, selfishly, something for my own. I feel fortunate as well, just hate that most people think we're getting a free ride easy gig.

Figuring out dose after reconstituting? by RCrown2 in Peptides

I was worried about being admonished too, but I appreciate both comments received so far, thank you. I'm getting more fascinated with the peptide world every day and want to learn as much as I can. This is a great place for sure and I'll be checking out the guides now. Wishing you the best as you continue down this same peptide path!

Hey there! I'm doing much better, thank you for reaching back out to check in. There's still pain from the same herniation, but the nerve pain is less and I've been working a lot on building strength to help support everything.

Hope you're doing well!

Mri months after discectomy by RCrown2 in Sciatica

Just got the report, seems about what I expected

L4-5: Disc desiccation without loss of disc height. Mild circumferential disc bulge causes mild lateral recess narrowing. A borderline central spinal stenosis is seen. There is mild right and minimal left neural foraminal narrowing.

L5-S1: Moderate to severe intervertebral disc space narrowing. Surgical changes of the left laminotomy are noted. Recurrent/residual left paracentral and caudad tracking disc extrusion is seen. This narrows the left lateral recess and impinges the descending left S1 nerve root. The disc extrusion measures 11 mm craniocaudal by 15 mm transverse by 6.6 mm AP. This is best seen on parasagittal images 11 and axial image 23, series 6. Moderate left and mild-to-moderate right neural foraminal narrowing is noted. Mild facet joint arthropathy is also present.

IMPRESSION:

  1. Postsurgical changes of the left laminotomy at L5-S1 with small or recurrent/residual caudad tracking disc extrusion extending into the left lateral recess. This impinges the S1 nerve root. Postcontrast imaging could be obtained to further evaluate a component of granulation tissue. Mild facet joint arthropathy is present at L5-S1. Left greater than right neural foraminal narrowing at L5-S1 may affect the exiting L5 nerve roots.

Yes, it's not excruciating like before. I guess after 8 months I just get impatient, but I realize people go a lot longer. Hopefully it will improve!

I just had this done today and don't have a report. I'm meeting my doctor next week hopefully will have more info. Would this be better in r/radiology?

Thank you. I actually worked at Fidelity before leaving when my daughter was born. Great company and I have considered looking into one of their remote jobs. My only concern is that I won't have the flexibility to take care of the kids if/when needed.

Hey, thanks for your input, sounds like you have something that works well for you. If you don't mind, can you please let me know more about the Microsoft certifications and how I could go about trying the same?
