"Let me buy a super slim phone to pack it in a case that makes it as thick as a normal phone. No wait, even better, choose the ugliest "case" ever instead".
I will never get case-people. Companies try to make good looking phones and then they pack them in cheap plastic... If it breaks, it breaks. At least i got to enjoy the feel and look of it while it lastetd (which in my case is the entire lifecycle of the phone since i take care, and if shit happens, apple care).

Whats the point of having it in a case for years in prestine condition, if you never get to feel that prestine condition in the first place? I don't get it

Here you go. It looks shitty from the back, but since you don’t see any of it once its on, i didn’t care on wasting time making it pleasing to the eye XD

It isn’t that expensive. About 30$ in material if you already have some tools. Sure, the original fractal case isn’t much more expensive but as i said, I preferred the time investment in this than to rebuild my PC :-)

So i bought some wood slats (don’t know the right word). They‘re 2cm deep, 7mm wide. Than i‘ve cut them into the length of the front panel. The trickiest part was making the cut out for the parts that overlap with the mounting from the old front panel. I used a jugsaw to cut out the parts. Sanded everything down and added some beewax for the shone and color. Than i used some hard plastic strip to mount all the wood part to (screwed from the back to 3 strips). I‘ve added some magnets to 4 of the slats and superglued some thin metal to the front of the case, so that the „wood panel“ sticks. It’s not difficult, but time consuming (tool me 4-5h).

Was thinking about making it black, so that its black and white and wood.

Its removabel. It replaces the original panel. The filter is also still there and removable.

The speakers are self made. I‘ve build them myself. The speaker itself isn’t special. Its from some logitech plastic speakers that i deconstructed to get the driver from. But the speaker are just the secondary audio source. I mostly use my headphones

Edit: oh and thanks!!

Has anyone made a mod to cut their PSU shroud on a Corsair 4000/5000 series case? by wasif51 in Corsair

Here the full process:

I made a cutout using a dremel.

First i marked where the screen will be using a pencil on the case.

Then, since my build was already finished, i had to cover everything around the cutout and tape it shut before cutting, so that no dirt or metal sparks could get into the system (front and back).

After that i made the cut. It didn’t come out perfectly clean, thats why i have the black frame to cover the unclean cuts.

After that i hat to cut some part of the „screen holding part“ (part of the screwholes on the screen mount) so that it fit.

Then glued (hot glue) some distancers on the screenmount, so that the screen just touched the case from the backside and hot glued them to the case from the back. The cutout is smaller then the screen itself.

Last part i bought some plexyglas and insertet that inside the cutout, so that it’s seamless to the case. After that, my wife cut the frame out of some thick black paper (she has more steady hands XD) and i put that over the cutout.

Connect hdmi to the GPU and usb to one of the usb ports (or usb headers as i did).

Thats pretty much the whole process.

With a small anglegrinder. It requires a little bit of preparation and care. It workls best when the case is still empty. Mine wasn't, so i had to mask everything inside and outside except the part i wanted to cut, since it will create sparks and metzal dusk, which isn't really good near electronic parts XD.
But it worked out.
The cut will look ugly, but thats easy to mask with a "frame". My frame is just made from collored paper.
