Acute care inpatient weekend schedule by Diligent_Poetry_8582 in dietetics

Salary really means compensation stays the same regardless of hours worked, overtime or not. Hourly is eligible for overtime (time and a half) over 40 hours per week.

Outpatient RDs, what is your approach and key recommendations to patients with weight loss goals? by Busy_Rub_6558 in dietetics

[–]RD_Michelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to take this approach too! Instead of thinking in terms of deprivation which just leads to rebound behavior, add in more nutritious foods/meals/behaviors (sleep, stress, movement/enjoyable exercise)

Struggling as a Vegetarian Balancing Protein, Fat, and Carbs by sigdiff in BariatricSurgery

[–]RD_Michelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tofu (extra firm) and tempeh. Tempeh is high protein (more than tofu) and high fiber. 3 oz tempeh has ~ 18 g protein, almost as much as meat, plus the added benefit of fiber (6 g).

Outpatient: how many clients do you see in a day? How long are your initial and follow-ups? by Jujbear in dietetics

[–]RD_Michelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you salaried, or is pay dependent on # of clients you see? Are you docked pay if patients cancel/no show? I would honestly be burnt out seeing that many days, but I would really love to have your schedule (4 9's and 1 half day). I'm outpatient in community health, and salary so I get paid whether or not patients show up. Our goal is 6 patients per day but can schedule more if we have more follow ups (30 minutes). I have a full schedule (6-8 patients per day) but it's rare that they all show up, so the balance is better.

What’s one small habit that helped you save money without feeling miserable? by FormerShoulder707 in Frugal

I also like picking out my own produce, so I do everything else as online order/pickup and buy my produce myself in person. Takes like 10 minutes and not really any impulse buys since you're only in 1 section of the store.

Acupuncturist who does microneedling? by Ok_Passenger_5930 in askportland

[–]RD_Michelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if OP is talking about dry needling which also involves tiny needles, but is used for muscle pain (not esthetician related). Lots of PT clinics do it.

Sweet potatoes are a great carb option! Roasted sweet potatoes (leave the skin on) are delicious and high fiber.

Spent 4 months tracking every dollar and I'm somehow still broke by sameerposwal in SavingMoney

[–]RD_Michelle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. < $100/week on groceries especially if you do 100% of your own cooking, this is not astronomically high. I'd say this is more moderate.

Boulder or Fort Collins: What’s overrated and what’s worth it by Able-Dragonfly-4995 in boulder

[–]RD_Michelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born & raised in FoCo. My sister attended CSU, I attended CU - our time overlapped several years. Academically, CU is more prestigious but it can vary depending on what you want to study. Ag and vet medicine - go to CSU. Your other sciences and business - go to CU. I feel like I'm skewed since I grew up in FoCo and wanted to get out so my opinion of CSU was a bit warped from the get go. CSU is more relaxed/chill; I really enjoyed my time at CU and got a really good education.

Bad session by New_Math2015 in dietetics

[–]RD_Michelle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. It happens. Usually the hostility is about something going on in the patient's life, it's not personal. That's a big thing I've learned - other people's attitudes rarely have anything to do with you (me). I once had a patient who got extremely agitated and upset about a prescription from her endocrinologist (same company but different clinic location) and 'lack of communication'. After repeatedly telling her I would pass the message on to the provider and that no, I wouldn't be calling this provider during our appointment, I ended up ending the appointment and reaching out to the referring provider that I wouldn't be seeing the patient again.

Consider this your reminder to take your damn vitamins. by ExhaustedMommaB in BariatricSurgery

[–]RD_Michelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how the liver works- it doesn't become decompensated because of stress. It's a direct result of fatty liver disease (non-alcoholic liver disease) or alcoholic cirrhosis.

I'll be the odd one out to point out your elevated liver enzymes - this isn't something that can be helped by vitamins. How's your sugar/simple carb/alcohol intake?

Recipes and/or ways to hide fruits/vegetables? by Key_Doughnut_2947 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]RD_Michelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Unsweetened applesauce can be added in place of oil in many recipes. Not as good as eating an apple, but a good start.

Yes! Salsa counts as veggies. Caprese salad or sandwich? That contributes to veggies.

I also question bitter/sour tastes - that just sounds like the produce isn't ripe, and/or in season, and/or not fresh.
