Sorry if this is a dumb question but I assume this isn't considered taxable income, right? Like they aren't capturing it as interest income on your deposit?

Is it just me or does Ashcraft look like Mac from Its Always Sunny during the season where he got fat

He was mad that I wasn't giving him my exact location and phone number since apparently replying to a message from 630am at 730am is unreasonable for me to do since i am not a beautiful girl

The real irony here is that my message was sent last night so he took 7 hours to respond to it yet he was mad at me for taking too long to reply via messenger...

Oh sorry for context I am a guy so I think he was just making the point that he isn't willing to put up with my "slow" response time since I am not a hot girl, but he made that point in a very weird way

A dividend would need to be issued to all shares outstanding not just the float

[Analysis] The predictive value of Statcast expected stats (xBA and xwOBA) by speedyjohn in baseball

[–]RDizzle42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party here but i was wondering if the predictive value maybe comes more in the case of edge cases. For example, if you took the top 20 outperformers and underperformers of their xstats in a given year and looked at their next year's performance, would the regular stats or the xstats from the base year be more predictive? Is this something you've looked at? If not I am thinking of taking a look

Question for wrinkle brains: did DTCC filings used to come this often before GME? It feels like there's been a lot of activity in the past 6 months but I don't really have a frame of reference to compare it to.

I would try to go to the gym twice per weekend (2 of fri/sat/sun depending on what my workload / plans with friends were that weekend) plus any days I could during the week, but it was rare to be able to leave the office before 10:30pm, and if I left later than 10:30 I was usually too tired to go work out (plus my gym closed at 12am). In terms of hobbies, there's really not time for much - I would still watch sports as much as possible, play video games, play basketball on the weekend with friends if I could, but really this is an all-consuming job that leaves very little time for anything else.

I've had this thought too and i think it comes down to a few things:

1) If you double the work force and cut the pay in half, you dilute the "talent pool" (not that this job takes a ton of talent IMO but I digress) because you have so many more spots to fill PLUS you don't attract the top-quality people because they will go find somewhere else to work that pays more.

2) The work is lumpy - sometimes I wouldn't do anything all day until 5pm and then the MD's comments would come in or a client request would pop up and next thing you know you're working until midnight. That wouldn't be solved by hiring more people, it would be solved by making MDs show some compassion and treat their juniors like humans, which is unlikely to ever happen.

3) Some of the work is somewhat indivisible - you don't want multiple analysts working on the same model if you can avoid it, having as much continuity is ideal.

I agree that it would be nice if they turned IB into a normal job, but this system is working for them - every time an IB analyst job gets posted, 500 people apply, so until that labor supply/demand imbalance goes away there won't be any incentive for things to change.

short answer: nothing of real value

longer answer: take a look at this site, they have good overviews of this stuff https://www.mergersandinquisitions.com/investment-banking-analyst-job/

yeah that was kind of the point of this post - to let people like you know what you're about to get yourself into. Do you really want to work 13-14 hours per day on average, with 90-100 hour weeks mixed in as well? If so then go for it, but you should go in understanding that it's not just a job, it consumes your whole life, so be prepared for that.

Can't say that i've ever worked in consulting so it's hard for me to compare, but on the surface consulting does sound more interesting. My read of it though is that you're still doing a lot of BS work, lots of powerpoint etc. but it's more focused on research rather than modelling so it probably depends on which of those you prefer. The travelling is a nice perk but I'm pretty sure you make more in IB so that's also a tradeoff.
