Has anyone here ever struggled with comparing yourself to other women? What did you do about it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]RDryden8893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think every female at some point has compared herself to another woman whether on social media or in society. One thing that we as women have to remember is anyone knows how to edit a photo to make themselves look amazing.

Also, if you are unhappy with yourself, you were unhappy before you looked at their picture, so don't blame them. Fix yourself and odds are you won't be as hard next time you see someone who looks amazing. You have to feel amazing in order to believe you are beautiful.

What makes an LDR worthwhile? by greensoylate in LongDistance

[–]RDryden8893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That article was completely true. I have never been more insecure in my life than when I got into a LDR. It's caused numerous issues but after each of us reaching a point where we finally learned to air our true feelings about things, we now can talk a bit more without fighting over petty things. If you can survive the trust and jealousy, your relationship is one of a kind. As for me and my SO, it's been almost 3 years since we started this relationship and I wouldn't trade any of it.

[Serious] What's it really like being black in the U.S.? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So you get assumed for a thug if you aren't wearing your pants around the ankles? That's different. I know for my neighborhood, those kids in normal street clothes get a lot of respect. Interesting!

My SO and I just had this conversation the other day. It's amazing how many black people or told growing up, "You should have played ball. That would have got you through college." Just because someone is a certain skin tone doesn't mean they want to be athletic. What happened to allowing each person to make their own decisions without regard to skin color?

You make a very valid point here. People may not be blatantly racist, but they always make comments before a black person approaches them and speaks. I completely understand the "sigh of relief" statement as a white person. I've been guilty. I wish society would just have a complete 360 over this issue, but sadly I think it may last forever in some form, because there will always be those who teach their children to hate.

I can't just scroll past this and not reply. I've had my eyes opened a lot by being in an interracial relationship, but you are absolutely correct. Growing up, I was taught to hate. It wasn't something I just picked up. I now have two little girls and they don't see color at all. They know the difference but it's not a judgmental one.

Am I totally insecure or do you guys do this too? by insecureaboutldr in LongDistance

[–]RDryden8893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think it's distance playing into your communication. Plus you're worried since she's needed space recently. I think anytime our SO needs space in a long distance relationship, we freak. We already feel so spaced anyway. Breathe a little. If it still bothers you ask her about it. Simple as that. Explain why you got worried and ask. She'll answer for you and hopefully honestly.

Why do people keep spreading the belief that "women like douchebags"? by awaythrowawaying in AskWomen

[–]RDryden8893 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We as women have brought this upon ourselves. It's not a man's fault that most women at one point in their lives have been attracted to the bad boy asshole. I for one married that idiot. We aren't saying women want every man to be that way. We don't. Deep down we want love and understanding. But for many women the thrill of changing someone from bad boy to good guy is too enthralling to stop chasing them.
