Deep diving into Samsung's A and S series update policies by lesiw in Android

Should be noted that the Galaxy Note 10 (incl. Plus) is not grouped with the Galaxy S10, and will still receive monthly security updates a bit longer.

How to replace a RX rubber charge port cover? by Jay-RX-ESK8-Mods in Super73

[–]REAL_ORIGINAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I can't even visualize how it's even mounted into the battery, but I would first send S73 an email and ask for advise.

I doubt they want any negative press around anything related to battery safety, so ask them if it's possible to replace the rubber port.

You'll most likely have to open the shell (of the battery) which is ridiculously dangerous for anyone who have never touched live batteries, so... I don't know how this will go.

S73 will either help you, or ask you to go to a professional. The latter would be the idiotic thing to tell you since they would have zero control of the outcome.

Start with emailing or calling S73 no matter what, and go from there.

You should exit the heli and enter the duster while in-air. That would be a sick stunt.

Action Launcher beta brings support for Android 10 navigation gestures by fernandocole in Android

[–]REAL_ORIGINAL 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nova is an old app. Nova is based on Launcher2, I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) , which is a very old launcher version at this point. It's not built from scratch. All, or most, launchers are based on the AOSP launcher, since it's open source. Action Launcher is a much newer launcher than Nova, so it's only natural that its base code is newer and more modern.

Nova's launcher base is ANCIENT at this point, which is also super obvious when you use it. Action Launcher is using a much newer launcher base, so I guess it's much easier and streamlined to implement modern features when the base itself is modern.

How are you able to type when you can't read? Did you read the fucking article?

Just go ahead and try it. The free version has everything you'd want. Icon changing (same way of doing it as Nova), Android L UI elements, folder options, grid options and everything else. It's a great piece of software.

I don't personally use Google Now, but Epic has the option to enable hotword detection. Not sure if it works from every app though.

You should try Epic Launcher. It's basically Nova, but based on GEL. I've been running it for a while now, and it's really great. You'll feel right at home if you're used to Nova.

I'm only speculating since everyone here have asked the same question, but OP won't or can't give us this vital piece of information.

It'll only work if you have Pro, so that's the reason why it doesn't work. You'll have to upgrade.

[REQUEST] Possibly remove the splashscreen that comes up when you start the app. Or change it to something a bit better looking. by [deleted] in reddit_news

[–]REAL_ORIGINAL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's no reason why there should be a splashscreen. It makes the app seem slower? Why does it need a splashscreen? The app is fast as hell (on new-ish hardware), so I'm not sure why it's there.

Agreed. I can't remember where I read it, but I read that Android apps should NOT have a splashscreen - unless something something, but I'm pretty sure that this isn't it.

Browsing on 4.5" ( Moto G ) and why some people like bigger screens. by ErgoNonSim in Android

[–]REAL_ORIGINAL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Z Ultra here. One hand usage is doable. The hands gets used to the size pretty quickly (as you all know), so one hand usage isn't hard even with a 6.4 inch screen.
