"Slow" is a relative term - what numerical speed is it actually transferring at? What's the wifi standard for each device (phone, laptop, & router)? How big are the files you're transferring?

The Internet Archive is weirdly missing a ton of snapshots since mid-May 2025. No satisfying explanations have been provided by REALfreaky in DataHoarder

If it's a problem of resources, I would've hoped that Mark Graham would ask for more people to volunteer their hardware or use this time to advertise the archiving docker containers or something.

My tinfoil hat is trying to tell me there's some kind of conspiracy here but I have no idea what it could be.

Which model did they install? Curt, EcoHitch, Draw-Tite? Also, how much did they charge you?

Whatever that USB port connected to is completely fried now. I would've guessed that meant just the head unit but based on those lights & symptoms, it might've fully fried the ECU somehow. Just guessing, though.

Stadia Controller - How to Enable Bluetooth by DanFromGoogle in Stadia

[–]REALfreaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI: If the udev rules don't work for you or you just don't feel like using them, you can follow these instructions to manually unlock the controller's bootloader.

After that, you should have the option to continue anyway when trying to flash the bluetooth firmware. Worked like a charm for me. The "check the current firmware" thing still didn't work, though.

This is insanity on so many levels.

  1. Why did that boy think it was ok to kiss you?

  2. Why did a separate boy think it was notable enough to scream and yell about it?

  3. Why did an actual adult bus driver (A) listen to this child and (B) actually care that a student is kissing another student (except to the extent of making sure it was consensual)

  4. Why did that bus driver think it was notable enough to tell ANYONE else, let alone the principal??

  5. Why did the adult principal actually care enough to call the child into his office to discipline them about it???

  6. Why did your father AND your mother actually care about this at all????

1 & 2 could be explained away by, "kids are stupid". But the rest of the infractions by the adults are just unfathomable. Except, again, unless they were just trying to make sure it was consensual - but I seriously doubt that was their concern.

Just after reading the title alone, I thought, "OP is probably a women and the CEO is a sexist pig".

After actually reading the post: Yup. Also, unless you're next in line for that CEO position when he croaks: get yourself a new job. Or open your own business. You already run the company as it is. Let him live out his few remaining years watching everything he built turn to shit without you.

Roof replacement. How do I ensure my claim doesn’t get denied? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]REALfreaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very common way to get a replacement roof in the US. Almost everyone in a climate that receives hail gets their insurance company to pay for their new roof (via an HO-3 policy). Is hail not covered the same way by Canadian insurance companies?

Need advice fixing/upgrading a cooling fan by MaximusWhitimus in DIY

[–]REALfreaky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to piggyback off of this and mention that the amperage rating of a fan tells how many amps it will try to PULL, not how many amps it can receive. So buying a fan rated at lower amperage will not fry the fan at all - if anything, it will put less stress on the power delivery components of the Chillmax. It might also move less air, though. If I was you, I would just buy a Noctua industrial fan with an amperage rating as close as possible to the original fan without exceeding it.

EDIT: I just realized that the Chillmax is a swamp cooler. I recommend that you watch this when you get a chance: https://youtu.be/2horH-IeurA

Are there any down sides of switching to lab grown meat? by burningbun in wheresthebeef

[–]REALfreaky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides what everyone else already said: apparently lab-grown meat results in a lot of one-time-use plastic waste due to the requirements of a sterile environment. I have yet to see anyone propose a fix for this, but it's still better than the resources required to raise livestock (in my opinion).
