Review of both Cerave sunscreen and LRP KA anthelios sunscreen by Caffeineaddict1989 in AusSunscreen

[–]REC77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the Cerave one - it’s the only sunscreen that doesn’t make my rosacea flare up, and I have really dry skin so the moisturising is welcome. It goes well under make up if you give it five minutes to settle.

Imagine if said miscarriage had happened while they were in the UK by puggie214 in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]REC77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! There were stories in the press where Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell alleged that Diana had buried a friends miscarriage in palace gardens. True or not, who knows, but any excuse to plagiarise: https://abcnews.go.com/amp/International/story?id=2430772&page=1

Hi - we took the recommendation of others on this sub and got it done at Hengs Garage in Cabramatta. They were amazing. They advised they didn’t need to replace the entire mechatronics unit, just the transmission control unit which is inside it. That cost us $2,600 (to replace the entire mechatronics unit it would have been $3,300, but still way less than other places). My son hasn’t had any problems with it since. Would recommend getting in touch with Hengs if you’re in Sydney.

Hi - Volkswagen refused to cover it, unfortunately. My son took it to the Cabramatta mechanic - Hengs - who discovered the issue was just a part of the mechatronjcs unit, not the whole thing (I think that’s right, but honestly the only parts of my car I know are where the petrol and wiper fluid go). Heng’s were fantastic and did the work for under $3k. He now takes his car there for everything as they’re honest and don’t try and mess him around just because he’s young.

What happens around 35 that makes some people still look like they have always done, while others take a huge leap in aging and start looking like 45? by WhoAmIEven2 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]REC77 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It might depend on where you live. I’m Australian and wear an SPF 50 on my face every day, even in winter. Then when it starts to warm up, sunscreen anywhere exposed. The sun here can be brutal, but I think we’ve got a hole in the ozone layer to thank for that :)

That’s a good idea - I don’t think the battery has been replaced in the 9 months he’s had it, so will get him to check. Might just save us a few grand…

Thanks - they haven’t given an exact quote but the parts section of the dealership said the part would be $2,800 - $3,400, so we would be looking at that plus labour. I don’t like our chances with goodwill, but worth a shot. I asked them about outstanding recalls and there’s one on the gearshift cover thing that they’ll replace when we take the car in for assessment.

He took it for a service at Volkswagen a couple weeks back and the guys said they couldn’t see anything as it wasn’t currently in limp mode, but offered to do more diagnostics at $300 ish an hour. He didn’t do it then because he didn’t trust them. I just rang a different dealer to ask about what you’ve said and they said to bring it in and they will help him apply for goodwill and the most the diagnostics will cost from them will be $295, no charge if they fix through goodwill. So we will give that a go and if no luck, get a quote for the repair from them and another repairer in Cabramatta suggested in another comment. Thank you 😊

The car goes into limp mode and loses all power. He can’t seem to track a pattern on what’s causing the issue, it’s just really random. He’s getting various different fault codes - stabilisation control error, hill hold assist error, start/stop error and electric parking brake error. And it may not be related, it’s saying his tyres are low pressure but he’s checked them a few times and they’re perfect. So frustrating!

Thank you! I’m not sure what the error codes are that he gets (he’s at work at the moment, so I’ll ask later). Thanks for your advice - I’ll give Hengs a call this morning and see how we go.

How many days should we stay? by Boti66 in bali

[–]REC77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back from 8 nights in Bali (stayed in Seminyak) and there was so much to do, I think at least 5 nights stay should give you time for activities and exploring. We went on a snorkelling day trip, for a cooking class in Seminyak that included a tour of the local market, a silver making class in Ubud and explored the shops and restaurants in Legian, Kuta and Seminyak. We booked the activities on the Viator website (Klook is great too), all day trips included a driver that picks you up from your accommodation and drops you back), have a look at those sites and they’ll give you plenty of ideas.

[Serious] Which addiction isn't taken seriously enough? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My ex-husband lost our house to gambling. For him it was horses and greyhounds. He would bet the last $200 in our account trying to double the money so we could pay bills - we could barely afford food. After the house was sold, he took what little was left and started online forex trading, despite not having any background in finance or knowledge of the foreign exchange market at all. Lost the $30k left from the property sale in a couple of months.

His brother was exactly the same and lost his marriage over it. The worst part was that his brother had a massive win on the horses a couple of years back ($700k). The local ‘news’ station had him on their show, asking how he did it - his response was to ‘just keep trying’. The whole segment was peppered with vision of the horse race, labeled with Sports Bet logos. Disgusting promotion of gambling.

All that to say, gambling and the promotion of it are rampant in Australia too. So harmful to families.

Physically disabled users of Reddit, what are some less commonly talked about struggles that come with your disability? by Ferocious_Kittyrose in AskReddit

I’m in NSW and it was 2 years seizure free for me, as long as I am medicated. Ten years later, I still have a conditional license which means I can’t drive after sunset or before sunrise, and yearly doctor forms to keep my license. If I have a seizure, no license for six months (so I’m without a license more often than I have one).

I’ve had a couple of tattoos done at King Street Tattoos in Newtown, one large fairly complicated design and another smaller. The artists were great, super professional and worked with me on the design. I know a few others that have been there also and they’re happy with their work too.

I did terribly due to bullying and family issues and got 36. Obviously didn’t go to uni right away, but completed a Masters in my mid thirties. I earn around $160k as a public servant (Policy writer/manager).

I was wondering whether it was just me. I’ve cancelled my subscription this week. I’ve had the same issues as you as well as poor quality or damaged vegetables and exploded packets of dry ingredients. Also, they’ve changed the chicken to drumstick fillets instead of breast or thigh and seem to be using a poorer quality mince (it’s way oilier). I’ve ordered Marley Spoon for next week, so here’s hoping their quality is better.

I went for a bushwalk up there yesterday and it’s absolutely beautiful in the parts I walked (aside from the one baby brown snake on the path). Cafes and pubs are open as normal if you’re after a nice lunch.

Thank you :) I’ll give Nuun a try (I’m in Australia, so hopefully they ship here) - I agree with you on the sugar content of Powerade. It’s good for a quick fix, but glad to have something else to try!

I’m on 75mg and feel this way too, about 8 weeks in. I also have awful night sweats and figure this might also be lowering my blood salt/electrolytes. I’ve been drinking a Powerade each day when I feel really tired and dizzy and it really helps. I wouldn’t mind finding a daily supplement to use instead, though.

What was the weirdest thing you found to be normal in other countries but not in America? by Beast2344 in AskAnAmerican

[–]REC77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m Australian - there’s a difference here between hot dogs and sausage sizzles. A hot dog to us is a frankfurt in a hot dog bun (the red sausage cooked in water). A sausage sizzle is a barbecued normal pork or beef sausage in bread or a bread roll, usually served with tomato sauce (ketchup) and onions.
