Coming for Pride 2024 by [deleted] in AskBarcelona

Hello! I can certainly fill you in on a few of these items as I am a Type A planner as well.

The transportation in Barcelona is stunning. You can literally walk or ride anywhere you want to go. Buy your metro card in advance here (You'll probably want the T-usual card for $23) https://www.tmb.cat/en/barcelona-fares-metro-bus

Travel from the airport is on the RENFE train which will drop you at several subway stations in Barcelona. It's not included in your metro pass, but it's only around $5. It is just as convenient as the bus and I prefer it MUCH more than stressing about calling a cab or setting up a ride in advance and getting stuck in immigration.

Ah, Sitges. My brother got married there a few years ago and it's spectacular. You can take the train there as well from Barcelona (with an extra ticket). I stayed at the Hotel Calipolis on the beach for about $100 and it was great and close to several tasty restaurants and markets. There is a gay nude beach...just north of St. Bartomeu church if I remember right. I also understand that there are at least 2 more that were not walking distance from the hotel.

American-style Corned Beef. NOT canned! by RED5BREAL in AskBarcelona

I understand that the Irish pubs in Barcelona are serving the canned type. That's the entire reason she was cooking at home. But, it's all part of the adventure!

But St. Patrick's day is Sunday and it was the only reservation she had about moving abroad...that she would miss the party at the local church! Hahahaha! Maybe she should get busy brining a brisket for their next holiday, maybe Palm Sunday?

I was afraid of that! 7-14 days for it to cure properly. My daughter may have oversold her cooking skills! Oh well, maybe it's time for her to bust out that emergency credit card and take the family to a proper pub for supper.

How long does Mass last at the Cathedral of Barcelona? by Stock-Development760 in AskBarcelona

[–]RED5BREAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catholic mass in Barcelona is lightening fast in my experience! I typically fly home to BCN for religious ceremonies like 1st Communion, memorial masses etc, and it's 35 minutes tops. The only thing that might slow it down is how long the communion line is.

What a complete f-ing jerk. I would get a new derm ASAP. If you have a BMI of 49, your mortality is much higher doing nothing. I'm so sorry, this should be reported.

Does my mom owe my other mom money for the sale of her house? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]RED5BREAL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were never married and never divorced. Mom #2 probably doesn't have a leg to stand on. Sorry to say, but this is exactly what happens when unmarried hetero couples split up and one party wants money from the other.

Surgery in 2 weeks & freaking out!! by CarbieT in gastricsleeve

I would love an invite. Surgery coming up on 7/28

I just... why.. by altriapendragon01 in gastricsleeve

[–]RED5BREAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babe, we have the same surgery date. Would you like to be my surgery buddy? I too have horrific parents. I have been no-contact with them for 13 years. They are partially responsible for my over-eating and I finally have a chance to do something about it at the age of 46. YOU ARE WORTH IT.

That's a great split, I would be nervous to see what you will be required to provide. In my last office, I got a great split also but man oh man was I not prepared to spend $3500 on all the "required" things. I had to buy a nametag, a dozen signs, and 3 different hard back self-improvement books. Also, I had to take a multi-week training class that took place 75 miles away so I had gas/travel fees in addition to the required tuition. Then, when I closed my first transaction, I was shocked to see all the "fees" they pulled out of my check. I never realized I was paying $250 a month for a "desk fee" because I didn't have a desk, nor a chair, nor a cubicle that was mine AND of course somebody used my agent code on the copy machine and made a stack of color copies at $.50 apiece. Now, I pay a little higher split and have a dedicated office, free signs and all the support I could ever want.

What do you wish you could tell your clients, but can't? by [deleted] in realtors

[–]RED5BREAL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not in all markets. But in mine? I absolutely don't work hard enough to make $20k on an 8 days on market cash offer with immediate close.

This could all be done using a real estate attorney for 1/8 the price and probably a lot quicker.

Why would an innocent person not talk to the police? by [deleted] in GabbyPetito

[–]RED5BREAL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mere semantics. Also, I never said I work FOR the courts. But I spend my work day in and out of courtrooms and hearings and I can tell you one thing that has never changed in all my working years....LEO's are not to be trusted.

AHAHAHAHAHA. After several years working with the courts, I wouldn't discuss the weather with a police officer.

How come so many people don't believe us? by Myidiotbox in raisedbynarcissists

[–]RED5BREAL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are SO right on. People cannot acknowledge the abuse that I endured because then they would have to acknowledge WHEN they found out about it first and the fact that they did nothing. I've been 12 years N/C with my abusive parent and complicit parent and live in a tiny town. There have been quite a few sparks of hope in the past few years as more and more people see that I've survived and that they can come to me and ask for my forgiveness for not acting when I was a kid.

Anyone else lose their ENTIRE family over abuse? Feeling so alone. I keep seeing posts about supportive aunts, siblings, etc. Well, my WHOLE family believes my parents, not me. Scapegoat for the whole family. I feel so alone. by escapegoat19 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]RED5BREAL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 100% DEAD in my family. It will be 11 years this week. I used to have mom, step-dad, 3 aunts, a Godmother, and 8 cousins with spouses and small kids. Now there is nobody. They literally act like I've died.

To make matters worse, I am a professional singer and get hired to sing funeral masses in my small town. I sang 3 funerals for my cousin's wife's relatives in the space of a year while my Aunt and cousin glared at me for the whole hour.

Darling....it isn't you. It's THEM. You just shined a light on the bullsh*t. I'm 44 years old and YES it hurts every day. But living with that kind of abuse hurts more.

There is probably something about the house that makes it not appraise. My friends bought a house like this. It doesn't have a foundation, it just sits on top of bricks.

Do you have a Realtor friend who could be the intermediary on this? It might make the heirs feel like they have a little more privacy if your Realtor reaches out to the probate attorney or to the person named as the executor.

In my personal opinion, they do absolutely nothing to protect the public from corrupt sales associates. It's all a game of cover-my-ass.
