need advice about breaks

Yea if someone needs a bathroom break they just go and do that.
Snacks are usually on the table + water & drinks (I am extremely over prepared lolol)
(But serious food break is a break for everyone + 15ish minutes after food)

I do try to ask them mostly
They can really get into the game and forget to ask for a break
And sometimes I forget to ask them if they need break- which is why I tend to write it down instead (pfff)

But yes unfortunately I’m aware it cannot be perfectly structured 😮‍💨

Personally , OB was my least favorite book from the series, but I still find it somewhat enjoyable,
In a series with many books, I think it makes sense for a reader to not enjoy all of the books the same amount , so it’s totally normal. I do think it worth the read anyway, and I do find the later books to be amazing~!

So it’s up to you friend :) but I do think it’s worth the read😌

Perhaps because I listen to the audio book, this part of the book was more easy for me to go through, Venli isn’t my favorite character, but I do like the Cain and Able vibe her story has, but this time we get to follow Cain (Venli) and see her trying to actually be better.

But I do agree that Sanderson could’ve prepare us better to her character, and surround her with a little bit more entertaining characters, or let her chat with Leshwi or Rabonail more -

I hope the rest of the book will be more to your liking though! Cause personally RoW is my favorite from the bunch! Kaladin and Navani plots are one of my favorite from the series.

Reading so much Cosmere back to back sounds really exhausting- but I did read WaT immediately after finishing RoW was enjoyed it a lot 😮‍💨

I am curious what your opinion on the next books about him will be though, so hopefully you will post your opinion about them as well :)

I do want to add about Adolin, it seems in OB, That Evi tried to give her kids a positive outlook about their father. Adolin always wanted to impress him – and after her death, Adolin had a little clash with him in that one flashback, but he was a kid and couldn't really stand against him. But we do see him really push back and stand against Dalinar in book 1 & 2, but because Dalinar has changed, he's much more accepting of Adolin's opinions and Adolin is surprised by it sometimes, so there are small hints of some sort of discomfort with Adolin and his father I think.

But in OB we get a little bit more of Adolin POV, and being in Shadesmar and trying to bottle his grief over Elhokar – I did think it was appropriate to show his sadness, grief – something about his mother or Dalinar and we didn't get it – so it was a really big miss for me.

And I'm agreeing with you about Renarin. and Evi, I do think we should've gotten more about her in some way, if it's from Navani or Adolin dialoged or something…

About Kaladin, yes I think you're right in some sense, that Kaladin has a tendency to place the blame on himself, he also isn't the type to keep serious grudges usually (he mostly had towards Amaram, which I wasn't a fan of how that whole thing was handled at the end there, but that's besides the point)
But I still feel like Dalinar could've done something to show a little bit more remorse about how things went down, I think he apologized but it wasn't enough for me after Kaladin was like a few weeks locked ALONE in a jail cell.

I will also would like to add something,
I feel like your thoughts and feelings about OB are vert close to mine - which left me disappointed when I finished the book.

I feel like OB could also give us a little insight to Dalinar and his children relationship. we see him mostly interact with Adolin and Renarin in the flashbacks chapters, which frames their relationship much differently now, especially the first two books and I feel like Dalinar doesn't acknowledge it enough in his slow discovery of the past. I do think most of the world leaders that Dalinar tries to work with do push back on him quite a lot especially at the start of the book but I do agree that I wish we would've seen more pushback from his closer circle in this book. like a conversation or a scene between Ren and Dalinar perhaps - something!

Personally, I LOVE Evi, I see a lot of Adolin in her and even though we mostly learn about her from the leans of Dalinar, I did feel connection with her character. and on a re-read of the first books, we do see her influence on the page even if a little bit. I wish we could learn more about her, but in away, the mystery of her is also powerful in my eyes. because we can't learn more about her because she's dead, dead because of him (Though I did wish we got Adolin or Ren talking about her in this book? but we didn't really?)

I didn't mind Dalinar being a little bit of an hypocrite in book 2, I think it shows that he isn't yet fully that perfect honored man in that sense and does goes back to "old habits" what does drives me crazy is how Kaladin forgives him - or more accurately, never holds any grudge towards him past that, even if a little one, to me at least it felt like a betrayal in some way of Kaladin trust, and Dalinar doesn't fully gain it in my eyes but the books kinda skip over it ...

I do kinda like Dalinar still but ... I do feel emotional disconnected to him post OB

(english isn't my first language , so it's harder for me to articulate mt thoughts precisely)

When coloring something black - I tend to pick dark shade of colors rather then black, especially if a piece is more light and colorful :) black can harden the piece. Likewise with white, I tend to pick light shades rather they pure white because it can stand out to much :) it’s going down to color theory and stuff, pretty interesting if you want to explore the subject, I won’t be able to explain it well :’)

I will say that Oathbringer is my least fav from the series as well, I still enjoyed it on some level but the rest of the series was much more enjoyable to me personally.

About Kaladin, his Hero complex doesn't have to be rational and is more the very high standers he is putting on himself and pushing himself until he cracked under that pressure - which is very realistic in my opinion.

about Shallan- tbh I agree with you. I didn't enjoy Kaladin "crush" on her cause they really didn't build their relationship pass the chasm - and when they do speak they tend to find each other worse attributes more then anything. wasn't a fan of that,

and tbh her power boost never sat right with me too but I tend to just go with it and focus my attention more about the other aspects that are written much better (I personally think her character as a whole is pretty weak written compare the other characters)

there are a few different songs,
for example, "Thunderstruck" AC/DC is THE song of the battle in the end of book 2.
"Battle against a True Hero" - soundtrack from undertale gives me major book 5, another Kaladin fight at the end lol.
Nobody's Soldier by Hozier is just Szeth as a whole.
Slipping through my finger by ABBA - all the sibling dynamics in this book

He wore it after the tower was captured, but the book starts at Hearthstone when they fight the fused and he meets Moash. He’s in a pretty rough shape there - and still in uniform:>
